As sustainability becomes an increasingly important topic in the textile industry, so does the research that helps us better understand how end consumers think about sustainability. Cotton Incorporated and Cotton Council International (CCI) conducted a global survey of attitudes, motivations, and behaviors regarding sustainability among 7,300 consumers in the U.S., U.K., Mexico, India, Italy, and China. Questions explored how consumers define sustainability, what actions they take to improve the environment, when and how sustainability affects their purchases, and why they are motivated to act in sustainable ways. This research reveals the ways in which environmental concerns are important to consumer decision-making.

December 20 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Harvey S. Firestone. This milestone coincides with the 30th anniversary of when Bridgestone merged with Firestone, a union that cemented Bridgestone’s position as the world’s largest tire and rubber company. Best known as the founder of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Harvey Firestone was a fourth-generation farmer who advanced to the forefront of early 20th century industrialism, with notable contributions across mobility, motorsports, retail service, agriculture and infrastructure.

The world’s first all-in-one music player Smart Hearable 1.0, developed by VINCI, will make its debut in the North American market at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held from January 6 to 9 in Las Vegas, United States.

VINCI Smart Hearable is a wireless and hands-free smart music player that can react to user body and consciousness dynamics with different kinds of music. With a built-in proximity sensor, the device automatically plays the music when user puts it on. When a child is diagnosed with cancer, their family is presented with treatment options – often a combination of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. Radiation and chemotherapy have been used to treat kids’ cancers for more than 50 years and often come with long-term late effects including secondary cancers, heart damage and cognitive issues. Often a child’s best chance at survival is a clinical trial which offers them the newest treatment options available.
In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation will highlight the critical need to fund lifesaving research and share stories of kids affected by cancer – like Micah, who is alive today because there was a clinical trial available.
