Abbott announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the company’s Absorb bioresorbable heart stent, making the first-of-its-kind medical device commercially available to treat people with coronary artery disease in the United States.
Absorb is the only fully dissolving stent approved for the treatment of coronary artery disease, which affects 15 million people in the United States and remains a leading cause of death worldwide, despite decades of therapeutic advances. While stents are traditionally made of metal, Abbott’s Absorb stent is made of a naturally dissolving material, similar to dissolving sutures. Absorb disappears completely in approximately three years, after it has done its job of keeping a clogged artery open and promoting healing of the treated artery segment. By contrast, metal stents are permanent implants that restrict vessel motion for the life of the person treated.

Ticketmaster, the global market leader in ticketing, today announced an extended multiyear partnership with Orlando City Soccer Club, home of Orlando City in Major League Soccer and Orlando Pride in the National Women’s Soccer league, to serve as the official ticketing and technology partner for all live events at Orlando City Stadium. Since implementing Ticketmaster Presence in March 2017, Orlando City SC has moved to a fully digital ticketing system with great success. In a matter of months, the club saw a six-fold increase in mobile entry, with 65% of fans now using mobile, and the remaining 35% utilizing NFC-enabled paper smart tickets or season ticket member cards. Digital tickets have provided Orlando City SC with unparalleled understanding of event attendees after seeing a 398% increase in new fan identification.

The ImplantCenter has recently opened the brand-new operating room suited for more complex treatments. This comes alongside numerous additions such as the launch of the four cosy apartments to rest after treatments at the clinic and an implant education facility to expand their services further. These expansions are part of constant improvements that have been occurring for the last 15 years, alongside high quality service.
The area of the clinic has increased by ten-fold to approximately 1800 m2 during the years. Moreover, the oral surgery division was opened in 2015, so eight dental treatment rooms and four oral surgery rooms are now in place today. All of the surgery rooms can serve ambulatory oral surgery treatments. The ImplantCenter is unique in Hungarian private dentistry because they can implement more complex treatments in the framework of one-day oral surgery procedure. This is due to the big and fully equipped operating room opened in November 2017. As part of the service, the ImplantCenter offers one and two-bed private rooms with medical supervision to their patients after each surgery.

XCMG, the world’s fifth largest construction equipment company, unveils the XE15R hydraulic intelligent excavator, its first fully remote-controlled excavator, signaling a new phase in XCMG’s intelligentization of its excavator series.
Without a cab, XE15R is the company’s smallest excavator at 1.35m in height and 1.08m in width. Nicknamed “Little Swan”, the machine is agile and flexible in challenging working conditions.
The newly developed XE15R features a wireless control function with a 100-meter range, and integrates mechanic, electronic and hydraulic control technology with a CAN bus interface design. Unmanned driving reduces labor intensity, particularly useful in severe operating environments, such as toxic conditions or extreme temperatures.
As an intelligent excavator, XE15R also features a self-learning function. It can save operating maneuvers and then replay them automatically on request, a breakthrough that further ensures security, agility and reliability in operation.

Honey Bunches of Oats is launching a new 360-degree marketing campaign to encourage fans to rethink the classic cereal, which has two varieties – Honey Roasted and Almond – among the top 10 favorite cereals in America. The new “THIS. IS. EVERYTHING.™” campaign celebrates the multiplicity of the product, from the crispy flakes to the crunchy granola oat clusters and the sweet touch of honey, while emphasizing a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats is greater than the sum of its parts. Multiple touchpoints are being utilized to bring the fully integrated campaign to life in order to engage consumers in person, online, offline and on multiple screens. Across all marketing levers, the work interweaves memes from social media and pop culture references to tell the brand story and allow consumers to play with and make the content their own.
The campaign kicks off with new commercial spots hitting airwaves in August. Two versions of the commercial were created specifically to engage both General and Hispanic audiences. More than 33 years after the popular American TV show Knight Rider showed David ‘The Hoff’ Hasselhoff talking to his car KITT, Volvo and Microsoft are launching a wearable-enabled voice control system.
Volvo owners will be able to talk to their car via their Microsoft Band 2, allowing them to instruct their vehicle to perform tasks including, setting the navigation, starting the heater, locking the doors, flashing the lights or sounding the horn via Volvo’s mobile app Volvo on Call and the connected wearable device.
In November 2015 Volvo and Microsoft announced their high-profile collaboration with the first automotive application of HoloLens technology. HoloLens is the world’s first fully untethered holographic computer, which could be used in future to redefine how customers first encounter, explore and even buy car. Now the two companies are delivering remote voice control for Volvo cars via the Microsoft Band 2 as another proof-point in their ambition to jointly develop next generation automotive technologies.

Centennial College's Heavy Duty Equipment Technician is a two-year program in which students spend the first eight months in school, eight months in co-op as a registered apprentice and a final eight months in school. Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of measurement solutions, today introduced the 6 Series MSO mixed signal oscilloscope. The new oscilloscope extends the performance threshold of midrange oscilloscopes to 8 GHz and delivers a 25 GS/s sample rate simultaneously on all 4 channels – an industry first for this class of oscilloscope – to accommodate the needs of designers working on faster, more complex embedded systems designs. With 25 GS/s sample rate on all channels, designers can accurately now view up to four high-speed signals at one time. For example, a DDR3 clock and three DDR3 data channels can be viewed and analyzed simultaneously, decreasing the time it takes to fully characterize a design with an instrument that shares sampling systems between channels.
The new 6 Series MSO also boosts measurement confidence with its low-noise inputs especially at the highest sensitivity settings where it matters most. For example, modern embedded designs require clean, precisely-controlled DC power supplies to feed ASIC and FPGA devices. For such applications, the 6 Series MSO enables designers to measure DC power rails with more resolution and accuracy, reducing the time it takes to understand high frequency influencers on power rails in a design.
