National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders announced today that they have invested a total of 137 million dollars into predominantly Latino communities that have been hard hit by foreclosures. This effort has successfully restored neighborhoods and stabilized communities in eight states and the District of Columbia.
The initial investment of funds came from a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and is the largest grant ever targeted by the federal government to predominantly Latino communities.

A new survey from the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) reveals that two-thirds of young adults have personal experience with mental health problems. Although the overwhelming majority of parents and young adults are supportive of discussing mental illness more openly, more than one-fourth of young adults (28 percent) and one in six parents (16 percent) admit they avoid talking about it.

Nearly 26 million Americans have diabetes, which can affect numerous parts of the body, including your teeth and gums.
Of the 26 million people who have diabetes, an estimated 7 million have no idea that they have the disease, according to the American Diabetes Association. Takeda today announced the launch of a new expert Report on COPD, introduced at a Takeda organised press conference on the occasion of the 2012 European Respiratory Society (ERS) Annual Congress taking place from 1- 5 September in Vienna, Austria.
The Report, entitled ‘The Shifting Paradigm in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Management,’ was initiated and developed by Takeda Pharmaceuticals International GmbH and is a compilation of opinion articles from a panel of key international respiratory experts, the European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients’ Association (EFA) and COPD patients, reflecting updated guidance and research. The new expert Report was developed in response to a recent shift in emphasis in COPD management which now places future risk at equal importance to treatment of current disability. Treatment objectives are now divided into two groups: reducing symptoms and reducing risk.

The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have partnered to help new-car dealers reduce their energy consumption through the Energy Star program.
As part of this effort, NADA and EPA are encouraging dealerships to complete a brief survey that will give the agency a benchmark to better compare the energy usage of dealerships across the country and allow certification of those dealerships that perform well. The survey (www.nada.org/energystar) asks dealers to share their yearly utility bills, square footage—inside and out—and different types of equipment used at the dealership.

Interim clinical results from Project IMPACT: Diabetes, announced today by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Foundation, show statistically significant decreases in A1C or blood sugar levels, LDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure and Body Mass Index (BMI), which are all recognized standards of diabetes care. Participating patients in 25 communities who experienced improved outcomes encompass almost every socioeconomic class, insurance status and ethnicity.
