United Airlines today will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the airline’s Terminal C hub facility at Newark Liberty International Airport, one of the world’s most modern airport terminals and the cornerstone of the original and largest New York/New Jersey airline hub.
Travelers arriving and departing at Newark Liberty today will join United employees in an anniversary celebration between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the upper level United Airlines ticket counter, where customers will have opportunities to earn prizes, travel discounts and bonus MileagePlus miles, and see the airline’s new uniforms for the first time. General Mills announced today that by the end of 2020, oat farms that supply oats for Honey Nut Cheerios will host approximately 3,300 total acres of dedicated flower-rich pollinator habitat. It takes about 60,000 acres of oats to make Honey Nut Cheerios products each year. More than two thirds of the crops used to feed people, accounting for 90 percent of the world’s nutrition, are pollinated by bees.1 Flower-rich habitat is critical in helping maintain the nutritional health of bees and the continued supply of crops that we depend on for food. Without bees and other pollinators, food as we know it would be forever changed.
Bees have experienced an unprecedented scale of habitat loss with more than 9 million acres of grass and prairie land converted to crop land since 2008.2 Although Honey Nut Cheerios famous spokesbee, Buzz Bee, and his honey bee friends may not be in danger of extinction like some other pollinators, in the interest of protecting our food supply, Honey Nut Cheerios is committed to helping all pollinators thrive through the planting of these habitats.
“Pollinator habitats are one of the most effective solutions in ensuring bees get the daily nutrition they need,” said Dr. Marla Spivak, a world-renowned bee scholar at the University of Minnesota who has been collaborating with General Mills on this initiative. “Every day, 4,000 species of North American bees are traveling from flower to flower, shopping for the variety of good nutrition they need in order to thrive. My hope is this partnership between farmers, the Xerces Society and General Mills will not only beautify the North American countryside with vibrant wildflowers, but also help the bees we all rely on so much get back on their own six feet!”

Gleich zweimal fallen erstmals Kindersitze der Traditionsmarke Römer beim aktuellen Test des ADAC und der Stiftung Warentest mit „mangelhaft“ durch. Ein Sitz versagt beim Frontaufprall, der andere hat viel zu hohe Schadstoffwerte. Insgesamt erhalten vier von 15 getesteten Sitzen das ADAC Urteil „mangelhaft“. Bei einem Sitz von Axkid reißt sogar die Isofixverankerung, bei einem Sitz von Nania wird das Kind beim Seitenaufprall ungeschützt an die Autotür gedrückt. Generell gibt es dieses Mal auffallend viele schlechte Modelle. Als bestes Produkt im Test erweist sich der Cybex Juno 2-Fix mit einer sehr guten Beurteilung. Dieser wird mit Fangkörper in der Klasse I für Kinder von etwa 1 bis 4 Jahren angeboten, er ist damit besonders empfehlenswert. Da allerdings nicht jedes Kind einen Fangkörper akzeptiert, sollten Eltern dies vor dem Kauf unbedingt ausprobieren. Folgende Sitze erhalten ein „gut“ und sind empfehlenswert: Der Casualplay Q-Retraktor Fix und der Casualplay Q-Retraktor Fix & Support Leg (mit Stützfuß) für die Klasse I (von etwa 1 bis 4 Jahren) sowie der Römer Kidfix XP SICT, der Recaro Monza Nova 2, der Storchenmühle Solar und der Recaro Monza Nova 2 Seatfix, alle für die Klasse II/III (von etwa 4 bis 12 Jahren). Beim Römer Xtensafix (Klasse I/II/III von etwa 1 bis 12 Jahren) rutscht der Gurt beim Crashtest aus der Führung und schneidet in den Hals des Kindes ein, was ein hohes Verletzungsrisiko darstellen kann – der Club bewertet deshalb das Produkt als „mangelhaft“. Auch der rückwärts gerichtete Römer Max-Fix (Klasse 0+/I, bis etwa 4 Jahre), ein sogenannter Reboarder, erhält aufgrund seiner hohen Schadstoffbelastung das ADAC Urteil „mangelhaft“. Durchgefallen sind auch die Babyschale Nania Baby Ride (bis etwa 1,5 Jahre) und der Axkid Kidzofix (Klasse I/II von etwa 1 bis 7 Jahren). Während die Babyschale beim Seitenaufprall versagt und das Kind bei einem Unfall ungeschützt an die Fahrzeugtüre geprallt wäre, reißt beim Axkid die Isofixverankerung im Frontcrash und der Sitz fliegt durch das Fahrzeug. Getestet wurden die Kindersitze aus allen Gewichtsklassen in den Kriterien Sicherheit, Bedienung & Ergonomie, Schadstoffgehalt, Reinigung und Verarbeitung. Wichtig für die Eltern: Die Kleinsten müssen bei jeder Fahrt im Sitz richtig gesichert sein. Vor dem Kauf sollte man sich unbedingt Bedienung und Einbau erklären lassen. Um Fehler beim Einbau zu vermeiden, muss die Bedienungsanleitung genau befolgt werden. Außerdem empfiehlt der ADAC, den Sitz vor dem Kauf im eigenen Fahrzeug auszuprobieren: Nicht jedes Produkt passt optimal in jedes Auto. Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) today conducted the first flight of the first flight-test airplane for the MRJ (Mitsubishi Regional Jet), their next-generation regional jet. The first flight was viewed around the world on the MRJ website, www.flythemrj.com.
The MRJ took off from Nagoya Airport and confirmed its basic characteristics and functionality in ascent, descent and turning in airspace off the Pacific coast during its 1.5-hour first flight.
“The MRJ successfully took to the sky today thanks to ongoing cooperation and support from all members involved,” said Hiromichi Morimoto, President, Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation. “ We will make our utmost efforts towards type certificate acquisition, committing all our resources to develop and produce the finest regional jet aircraft to enter commercial service in 2017.”
“Operational performance of the MRJ exceeded expectations. We had a significantly comfortable flight,” said Pilot Yasumura, who served as captain.
