XCMG, the world’s fifth largest construction equipment company, unveils the XE15R hydraulic intelligent excavator, its first fully remote-controlled excavator, signaling a new phase in XCMG’s intelligentization of its excavator series. Without a cab, XE15R is the company’s smallest excavator at 1.35m in height and 1.08m in width. Nicknamed “Little Swan”, the machine is agile and flexible in challenging working conditions. The newly developed XE15R features a wireless control function with a 100-meter range, and integrates mechanic, electronic and hydraulic control technology with a CAN bus interface design. Unmanned driving reduces labor intensity, particularly useful in severe operating environments, such as toxic conditions or extreme temperatures. As an intelligent excavator, XE15R also features a self-learning function. It can save operating maneuvers and then replay them automatically on request, a breakthrough that further ensures security, agility and reliability in operation. “Intelligentization is an inevitable choice as XCMG follows the path of new industrialization, and XE15R shows that we do what we say. Its design embodies our pursuit of efficiency and user friendliness.” said Wang Min, president of XCMG. The launching of XE15R expands XCMG’s product line, and improves its customers’ construction quality, providing them with a more human-friendly working environment and better project solutions. Whirlpool Corporation is celebrating the conclusion of its first-ever Global Habitat Build Project -- a project which engaged more than 200 Whirlpool Corporation employee volunteers in 14 Habitat for Humanity home build projects in eight countries. The project was coordinated to recognize the many contributions of the company’s former CEO, Jeff Fettig, who stepped down as CEO on October 31 of this year, and to celebrate the 17-year partnership between Habitat for Humanity International and Whirlpool Corporation. “What better way to recognize the standard of giving back set by our Chairman and former CEO, Jeff Fettig, than to collectively build homes around the world in his honor,” said Jeff Noel, the corporate vice president of communications & public affairs for Whirlpool Corporation. “At the same time, we’re celebrating our long-standing relationship with Habitat for Humanity. Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International, gave his time to hammer nails alongside our employees, honoring our collaborative work building homes and positively impacting society for nearly two decades.” To view the multimedia release go to: https://www.multivu.com/players/English/8219351-whirlpool-celebrates-global-habitat-build-project/

In a groundbreaking effort to empower teens to speak up when they see bullying, the Ad Council and an unprecedented coalition of media, corporate and non-profit partners are launching I Am A Witness, a digital-focused campaign featuring a new eye emoji supported by the Unicode Standard, and is now available on iPhones running iOS 9.1. The emoji will also be featured in the I Am A Witness app, available on the App Store and on Google Play, which offers a downloadable keyboard developed pro bono by Snaps. The emoji, shaped like a speech bubble with an eye in the center, enables teens to take a stand against bullying and show support for someone who is being bullied. The campaign launch coincides with Bullying Prevention Month. The I Am A Witness campaign was developed pro bono by Goodby Silverstein & Partners in collaboration with Adobe, Apple, Facebook, Google, YouTube, Johnson & Johnson and Twitter. Each partner will be providing significant exposure and customized content on their platforms. The campaign also includes activations on platforms including BuzzFeed, Instagram, Kik, Pandora, Snapchat, Tumblr, Vevo, We Heart It and Whisper. Additionally, non-profit partners have offered their expertise and resources, including The Bully Project, GLSEN, PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center and The Trevor Project. The Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities is pleased to announce the launch of an egyptian – international Project using non-invasive and non-destructive surveying techniques for the scanning of Egyptian Pyramids under the title “ScanPyramids” project. Just because a mystery is 4500 years old doesn’t mean it can’t be solved…” This could be the motto of the exceptional scientific mission launched October 25, 2015, under the authority of the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities, initiated, designed and coordinated by the Faculty of Engineering of Cairo and the French HIP.Institute (Heritage, Innovation and Preservation). Radiographic muons, aka cosmic particles, infrared thermography, photogrammetry, scanner and 3D reconstruction: the most innovative technologies will be used by researchers of international renown and three major universities: the Faculty of Engineering of Cairo University, Université Laval of Quebec and Nagoya University of Japan. Their goal: to probe the heart of the largest pyramids of Egypt, without drilling the slightest opening. Four millennia after their construction, these ancient giants are far from having yielded their secrets. The first mystery concerns their construction, especially Khufu, the last of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still existing: it is still impossible to describe with certainty how this stone monument, the largest ever built by humans, was erected. The “ScanPyramids” project has already been approved by the permanent committee of the Ministry of Antiquities and has obtained all necessary permissions from concerned authorities. With a base of more than 5 hectares, its original height of almost 150 meters and a mass of 5 million tons, how was it possible to construct such a wonder in only 25 years? At Munich’s real estate exhibition last week, Russia’s leading e-commerce company, Ulmart, hosted a “working breakfast” to discuss the nuances and intricacies of investing in Russia today during times of heightened international tension. The topic, “Making the Case for Star Investment Projects in Russia”, featured Ulmart’s chairman and majority shareholder Dmitry Kostygin; Andrew Kaye, Managing Director and Co-Head of Technology Banking, William Blair International; Calin Anton Business Development Director Russia & CIS, Astron; and, Tim Millard, Regional Director, Head of Consulting Services at Jones Lang LaSalle, Russia. A lively discussion kicked off about how some in the investment community tend to focus—even obsess—on macro realties at a state-to-state level ignoring many truly interesting project; precisely the types of projects that keep most of the world’s economies developing positively from cycle to cycle. A historic day for AC Milan and Milan. Fondazione Fiera has decided that the winning project for the redevelopment of the old trade fair is the one of AC Milan. The decision made yesterday is the first step, but the dream of the Vice President and CEO Barbara Berlusconi to build a new stadium could soon become reality. The project, which was presented along with Arup in January, envisions the construction of one of the most innovative stadiums in the world, open to the city and extremely functional. It will contain within itself a hotel, a school, restaurants, children’s playgrounds, walking paths in the green on the rooftop, exhibition space for young artists and other useful services to the citizens. The stadium will have about 50,000 seats and already many international companies are putting themselves forward for a commercial partnership. On World Mental Health Day, Janssen has announced the results of a pan-European research project: ‘Talking About Treatment in Schizophrenia: A Patient and Carer Survey’. The survey of 166 adults living with schizophrenia and 468 carers was conducted by the independent market research agency, Fieldwork International (part of Ipsos MORI), and explored awareness, feelings and preferences regarding treatment. The survey, conducted across 12 countries in Europe (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK), highlighted key factors affecting the peace of mind for carers, such as the impact of the condition on day‑to-day life, potential relapse/hospitalisation and getting support beyond medication. 94% stated they reminded the person they care for to take their medication and for 49% this happens often.
