The CDC Foundation, actor Idris Elba and a global team of African soccer stars, international health and aid organizations today announced the launch of Africa United, a global health communications campaign aimed at preventing the spread of Ebola in West Africa. Africa United will leverage campaign partners and celebrities to provide critical education and resources for the people of West Africa.

Today in Times Square, thousands of visitors joined actor and Operation Smile Ambassador Zachary Levi; celebrity photographer and USO Ambassador Nigel Barker; actress and United Nations Foundation’s Girl Up Ambassador Katherine McNamara; and Save the Children to kick off the “season of giving” with the free Donate a Photo app from Johnson & Johnson.
Visitors to the interactive giving experience learned how they can, literally, give back in a snap by turning something they do every day – taking a photo – into a way to raise funds and awareness for causes they care about. For every photo shared through the app, Johnson & Johnson donates $1 to one of its trusted non-profit partners, chosen by the user from a rotating list of causes.
Anyone can participate by downloading the Donate a Photo app from the Apple App Store or through Google Play. From there, it’s as simple as picking a cause to support, uploading a photo and sharing on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the handle @DonateaPhoto and #JNJ, #DonateaPhoto, #365DaysofCare or #DonateEveryday.
“Funds raised through Donate a Photo are just a small part of our long-standing commitment to caring for and supporting children and families around the world,” said Michael Sneed, Vice President, Global Corporate Affairs for Johnson & Johnson.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital patients who completed kindergarten during their treatment for pediatric cancers celebrated at a graduation ceremony.
For the 10th straight year, St. Jude honored 14 patients from around the United States who completed kindergarten while battling life-threatening illnesses like leukemia and brain tumors. Dozens of families and St. Jude doctors, nurses, and staff cheered for the young students, who completed kindergarten in the St. Jude School Program by Chili’s.
Each year, the school program commemorates students who have completed kindergarten coursework with a special ceremony. The children present a song for the families and St. Jude staff, receive their diplomas and celebrate the milestone with their fellow students.

Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger-relief organization, has partnered with the Ad Council and McCann New York to launch new public service advertisements (PSAs) designed to raise awareness about child hunger in the United States. Featuring the voice of celebrity activist Julianne Moore, who volunteered her time and talent, the PSAs call upon Americans to help children facing hunger in America by supporting the Feeding America nationwide network of food banks.
