The welcome address at this year’s Forum was delivered by Sergei Prikhodko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Chief of Staff of the Government of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The Forum programme was unique in both scope and the subjects covered by a total of over 150 events.
This year, a new approach was taken to forming the interesting programme, involving the expert community.
According to the participants, “the discussions were more substantive, direct and open and the ideas expressed at the sessions will undoubtedly be of use in their work going forward”.
A group of our experts worked at all the events, the outcome of which will be a selection of proposals on the results of the business programme for presentation to the President of the Russian Federation.

The German Federal Foreign Office (FFO), the Goethe-Institut, and the Federation of German Industry (BDI), announce the launch of WanderbUS, an immersive traveling exhibit bringing German culture to 48 states over five months. Launching March 5th in Washington, D.C., the WanderbUS will hit the road to visit high schools and universities in every state within the continental US. Staffed with a team of educational professionals, the tour will feature presentations, games and virtual reality tours of German landmarks including Hamburg, Nuernberg and Frankfurt. The National Restaurant Association (NRA) each year gets in the kitchen with chefs to reveal the top menu trends for the coming year. For its annual What’s Hot Culinary Forecast, the NRA surveyed nearly 1,300 professional chefs – members of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) – to find which foods, cuisines, beverages and culinary themes will be hot trends on restaurant menus in 2015.

Today, the American Federation of Government Employees released a microsite site to raise awareness of the threat of privatizing the VA, and the negative impact it will have on veterans.

When Hans Blix is keynote speaking on the conference of the World Veterans Federation, the Peace and Security Summit, in Stockholm this May, he wants to help spread the stories of the veterans. “The public are not so familiar with what experiences the veterans have, and should listen to them,” says Hans Blix.
Hans Blix, formerly head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, is one of the keynote speakers at the World Veterans Federations conference Peace and Security Summit that is to be held in Stockholm in the end of May. Now he speaks for the first time about what made him decide to contribute to the conference.

Each year, the National Restaurant Association surveys nearly 1,300 professional chefs – members of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) – to explore food and beverage trends at restaurants in the coming year. The annual “What’s Hot” list gives a peak into which food, beverages and culinary themes will be the new items on restaurant menus that everyone is talking about in 2017.
According to the survey, menu trends that will be heating up in 2017 include poke, house-made charcuterie, street food, food halls and ramen. Trends that are cooling down include quinoa, black rice, and vegetarian and vegan cuisines.

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held, bringing together more than 12,000 participants from 133 countries, including media representatives and business and government delegations. On June 16, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office, and Chairman of the SPIEF Organizing Committee Sergei Prikhodko gave a welcome address at the official opening of the Forum. Heads of states, government officials, and executives from leading international companies and organizations gathered in St. Petersburg for one of the key global business events of the year.

Closing the distance from farm to fork, America’s turkey farmers, represented by the National Turkey Federation, have prepared a new series of videos and resources offering common-sense answers about raising healthy turkey flocks on family farms. Viewers see turkeys walk about freely and safely inside barns without cages, as well as learn how veterinarian-prescribed antibiotics are proven to clear an animal’s system before the meat is processed. The videos also share how healthy turkeys are raised on a nutritious diet of corn and soybeans along with vitamins and minerals, and how turkeys are farm-raised using smart technology and responsible stewardship of resources.

Today on World Oral Health Day, FDI World Dental Federation is myth busting what people around the world believe to be good oral health practices, encouraging them to become better informed and take action. Oral health is integral to our general health and well-being; impacting every aspect of our lives.
The results from a survey carried out in 12 countries, by YouGov on behalf of FDI, exposed a significant gap between what people believe to be good oral health practices, versus what they actually do. Eight of the countries reported that 50 percent or more of the people surveyed think it is important to brush your teeth straight after every main meal. Brazil, Mexico, Egypt and Poland were the worst offenders of this incorrect oral health practice (84%, 81%, 62% and 60% respectively). FDI recommends waiting at least 30 minutes after eating to brush your teeth to avoid weakening tooth enamel.
