If you purchased “Wal-Born” – a Walgreens’ brand dietary supplement, the Federal Trade Commission wants you to know that you may be eligible for a refund. National pharmacy chain Walgreens agreed to pay nearly $6 million in 2010, to settle FTC charges that it deceptively advertised that its “Wal-Born” line could effectively prevent colds, fight germs, and boost the immune system. The money will be used to provide refunds. To view Multimedia News Release, go to http://www.multivu.com/mnr/58962-ftc-walgreens-settlement

Bing, Microsoft Corp.’s search engine, today is launching a national campaign to highlight Bing’s commitment to honest search results and to help explain to consumers the risks of Google Shopping’s newly announced “pay–to–rank” practice, in which the shopping search results customers see are not true search results such as they see elsewhere on Google; they are actually ads that are ranked, in part, by who pays the most. More information on these practices is available at http://www.scroogled.com. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 marks the inaugural National Jerky Day celebrating the rich history, immense popularity and nutritional benefits of dried meat snacks. The fourth highest-grossing sector within the overall salty snack universe, meat snacks — including jerky — outsell other popular salty snacks, including popcorn and pretzels. “In many ways, jerky is an ideal snack. Naturally packed with protein, jerky will keep you satiated between meals; but since it’s low in fat, calories and carbs, it won’t sabotage a healthy diet,” said Jeff LeFever, director of marketing for Jack Link’s® Beef Jerky, the No. 1 U.S. meat snack brand. “Plus, jerky tastes great. There’s no snack more deserving of its own special day.” To view Multimedia News Release, go to http://www.multivu.com/mnr/56705-jack-link-s-beef-jerky-celebrate-national-jerky-day-june-12

Just in time for the two major political parties’ national conventions, Jack Link’s® Beef Jerky has unveiled the ultimate – or ulti-meat – tribute to the year’s political race: mosaic portraits of “Barack Obameat” and “Meat Romney.” Painstakingly created by a noted mosaic artist from thousands of pieces of Jack Link’s Jerky, the two presumptive presidential candidates now join Sasquatch, the brand’s icon, in the distinct honor of having their likenesses recreated entirely from jerky. Americans can vote online for their favorite “meathead’ in this unique portrait showdown. To view Multimedia News Release, go to http://www.multivu.com/mnr/57685-jack-links-beef-jerky-meatheads

National blood stocks have fallen by 7% over the jubilee weekend according to latest figures from NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) which today launches its annual awareness campaign, National Blood Week, to urge the public to donate blood. During the National Blood Week recruitment drive additional appointments have been created and selected blood donor sessions have extended opening hours to give donors more flexibility to schedule a visit. Regional recruitment events will also be driving awareness and enabling people to sign up. To launch the 2012 National Blood Week, Made In Chelsea’s Rosie Fortescue has rolled her sleeves up to recreate the heroic ‘Rosie the Riveter’ WWII poster and issue a rallying cry for new and existing blood donors to come forward. Rosie Fortescue, who shares her name with the 1940s poster girl, said: “This woman clearly knew how to get things done, and I feel honoured to become a modern day campaigner for the national blood stock build. Blood supplies are vital to the health service and every unit of blood can save or improve the lives of up to three people.” To view Multimedia News Release, go to http://www.multivu.com/mnr/56548-nhs-blood-transplant
