Farmers in Ivory Coast struggle with a mango harvest season that is as short as the fruit is sweet.
“For a 4-6 week period in April and May, the country is flooded with good mangos, but it ends abruptly when the rainy season starts. From then on, the mango just starts decaying,” explains Mathew Shed, container manager in the specialist shipping company Africa Express Line (AEL).
“We were approached in April by Eolis, a CF logistics company, who asked for some kind of smart solution that would keep the fruit delicious and marketable for a longer time,” he adds.
The solution turned out to be special reefer containers. With quick help from a container leasing company and a container depot in Antwerp, Belgium, Star Cool containers were upgraded to work with controlled atmosphere, in short known as CA, and sent to Ivory Coast.

In its annual report on the EU budget published today, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) warns that the budget system is too focused on just getting funds spent and needs to place more emphasis on achieving results. As independent auditor, the ECA signed off the 2013 accounts of the European Union, but stresses that the management of EU spending is not yet good enough overall - either at EU level or in the Member States.
Throughout the 2007 to 2013 spending period, say the EU Auditors, the priority was given to spending the money - ‘use it or lose it’ - rather than to achieving good results. Despite a major song composing setback due to computer failure "My keyboard broke down" I was still able to complete this song and video by using old school computer tactics. First I pleaded with my computer. Then I bribed it. Then I learned how to communicate with it by sign language. When flipping it the finger was no longer effective, I then brought out the hammer and smashed my keyboard in front of it and then said "You're up next Mr. Intel and if you don't smarten up, I'll smash you Inside Out el." I try as hard as I can to be computer friendly.
What can I say about this one that I haven't said before? ....... "SCOOBY DOOBY DOO DOOWAH" ..... I don't think that I've ever said that before on any of my prior songs ..... BMM, Asia’s only Midnight Marathon, was conceived by Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC) and the first edition run was held on 19th May 2007. Since then this event is growing from year to year and today people from more than 20 countries are participating in this event and also the number of runners from 2400 in the Year 2007 has increased to 10,000 runners apart from 45 Corporates participating in the event held in 2013, being the seventh edition run. For two decades, Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Artist Series wines have celebrated the inspired collaboration between artisan winemaking and fine art. To commemorate the 20th vintage, Chateau Ste. Michelle is partnering with Dale Chihuly, the first artist to present artwork on the Artist Series label with the 1993 vintage. The 2012 Artist Series featuring Chihuly will release nationally in August with a suggested retail price of $65.
The Artist Series red blend is a unique, collector’s wine that represents the highest quality and pedigree from Chateau Ste. Michelle. Each Artist Series vintage features the work of renowned artists on the label, from blown glass to bronze sculptures to paint on canvas.
“I’m honored to have my artwork on the 20th vintage Artist Series label,” says Chihuly. “This piece is one-of-a-kind and very special to me. I couldn’t think of a better use than portraying it on this significant wine project.”
For the 20th vintage label, Chihuly selected his Cast Silver Venetian. This unique sculpture was created by Chihuly, and then cast in sterling silver at the Walla Walla Foundry in Washington State. Inspired by Italian Art Deco, Chihuly started his Venetian series in 1988 with Italian glassblower Lino Tagliapietra. Chihuly is known for his artwork and ambitious architectural installations around the world in museums, historic cities and gardens.
