The thinking that diet does not affect acne is a falsehood perpetuated by that part of the medical industry that is trying to protect their livelihood of dispensing drugs. The AMA has established that the only way to deal with acne is through the use of medication. They say there is no evidence to support the idea that diet causes acne.

WebMD and Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI) today announced a new investigative study designed to improve researchers’ and health care professionals’ understanding of what contributes to healthy pregnancies and positive pregnancy outcomes. The Healthy Pregnancy Study will use WebMD’s newly redesigned and enhanced Pregnancy app for iPhone. Incorporation of the Apple ResearchKit software framework will enable survey participants to eConsent, easily and anonymously answer questions, and share connected device data about their pregnancies with researchers for analysis. “Pregnant women are one of the least studied populations in medical research,” said Dr. Eric Topol, director of STSI and editor-in-chief of Medscape. “The results of our Healthy Pregnancy Study -- on the foundation of an exceptionally popular smartphone app -- will ultimately provide expectant mothers, researchers, and health care professionals with new medical insights to avoid complications during pregnancy.” To view the multimedia release go to: https://www.multivu.com/players/English/7579757-webmd-stsi-healthy-pregnancy-study-app/

International research led by University College London (UCL) as part of the ‘Cities Changing Diabetes’ partnership programme challenges current scientific understanding of the rapid rise of diabetes in cities. The findings suggest that in cities around the world, social and cultural factors play a far more important role in the spread of the epidemic than previously thought. More than two thirds of the world’s 400 million people with diabetes live in urban areas.1,2 The year-long study for Cities Changing Diabetes, a unique public-private-academic partnership, sought to better understand what makes people vulnerable to type 2 diabetes in cities in order to inform solutions for one of the most pressing modern-day public health challenges. To explore this complex issue, more than 550 interviews were undertaken with at-risk and diagnosed people in five major cities – Copenhagen, Houston, Mexico City, Shanghai and Tianjin. “By largely focusing on biomedical risk factors for diabetes, traditional research has not adequately accounted for the impact of social and cultural drivers of disease,” says David Napier, Professor of Medical Anthropology, UCL. “Our pioneering research will enable cities worldwide to help populations adapt to lifestyles that make them less vulnerable to diabetes.” To view the multimedia release go to: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7690951-study-rethink-rise-diabetes-in-cities/

Through his career, 14-time World Swimming Champion and 11-time Olympic Medalist, Ryan Lochte would spend hours shaving his body before his most important swim meets. Typically, competitive swimmers shave to reduce drag in the pool, a drag that translates to added seconds, meaning the difference between placing in a heat and medaling in a competitive meet. But this year, things are different. Ryan has put down the razor to become global brand ambassador for Syneron Candela’s Gentle Laser Hair Removal system, the #1 professional Laser that permanently reduces unwanted hair. Syneron Medical Ltd. a global leader in aesthetic medical devices, today announced Ryan Lochte, World Champion Swimmer, will serve as brand ambassador for Syneron Candela’s award-winning, Gentle Laser Hair Removal systems in a series of international print and digital advertisements. Creative assets for the campaign, developed by McCann Erickson, will appear across print, digital and social channels. Lois Paul and Partners, working in tandem with Fleishman Hillard, will lead public relations and content creation for the campaign.
