Pirelli liefert die Slick-Mischungen P Zero White (Medium) und Yellow (Soft) nach Ungarn. Das ist auf dem Papier dieselbe Nominierung wie in 2012, jedoch sind die Gummimischungen dieser Saison weicher und bieten mehr Performance. Außerdem wurde die Konstruktion der Reifen noch einmal verändert. Die neuen Slicks kombinieren die Struktur der Reifengeneration aus 2012 mit den aktuellen, softeren Gummimischungen der Saison 2013. Vergangene Woche testeten die Teams diese neuen Reifen erfolgreich auf der Strecke in Silverstone und sammelten dabei ausgiebig Informationen. Auf dem engen und kurvigen Hungaroring ist die Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit niedrig, ein Faktor, der Abrieb und Verschleiß maßgeblich beeinflusst.
