In 2011 we started out as a non-profit organization in Shreveport, Louisiana. We’ve since begun dedicating ourselves to helping those in the Memphis, Tennessee, area with job preparation training and utility payment assistance. We operate a youth development program that collects school uniforms, coats and supplies for children who are in need – and that’s only the beginning. We also offer Bible study for those who desire to be nourished by the everlasting Word. You see, we believe that our services all go hand-in-hand. When you know, understand and follow God’s Word, you’ll see opportunities that were previously invisible to your eyes. You’ll find your calling in life. You’ll be able to successfully support your household. And your children will know that there’s always hope in God’s hands. It starts with one simple step, and we’re aiming to be that catalyst for change. Would You Like to be One of God’s Helping Hands? We’re always in need of donations of time and financial resources. Contact us at (901) 235-3463, or email contactus@wearethehandsofgod.org to see how you can help. www.wearethehandsofgod.org

The National WWII Museum today opened its newest permanent exhibit: Richard C. Adkerson & Freeport-McMoRan Foundation Road to Tokyo: Pacific Theater Galleries. Retracing the grueling trail that led from Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay, Road to Tokyo explores the evolving strategy for fighting relentless Japanese forces in Asia and the Pacific, examining cultural differences, logistical challenges and the staggering range of extreme conditions that confronted American military forces in Asia and the Pacific. Along with Road to Tokyo, the Museum also opened a new exhibit on the US Merchant Marine. LTJG Ralph E. Crump Merchant Marine Gallery is a stand-alone gallery that honors the mariners who risked their lives transporting weapons, men and matériel to distant warfronts. Features include a video, artifacts, a model of a Liberty ship and an engaging array of personal narratives. The gallery is situated in the Solomon Victory Theater complex, at the end of the American Spirit Bridge – a new glass-and-metal bridge that connects the Museum’s Louisiana Memorial Pavilion with the rest of the six-acre campus for the first time. The lion’s roar will soon return to Audubon Zoo thanks to Joy and Donald “Boysie” Bollinger. Boysie Bollinger, a philanthropist and Louisiana shipbuilding magnate, and his wife have donated $5 million to Audubon Nature Institute that will fund design and construction of a sprawling habitat for African lions. Audubon officials say the project will spur a larger redesign of the Zoo’s popular African Savanna exhibit that opened in the 1980s. The $5 million donation – the largest single gift Audubon Zoo has ever received from a private individual or family – was announced on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Portland, Oregon has the best preterm birth rate of the top 100 cities with the most births nationwide, while Shreveport, Louisiana has the worst, according to the 2015 March of Dimes Premature Birth Report Card, which for the first time graded cities and counties around the nation and revealed persistent racial, ethnic and geographic disparities within states. The U.S. preterm birth rate ranks among the worst of high-resource countries, the March of Dimes says. Worldwide, 15 million babies are born preterm, and nearly one million die due to early birth or its complications. Babies who survive an early birth often face serious and lifelong health problems, including breathing problems, jaundice, vision loss, cerebral palsy and intellectual delays.
