Dozens of actors, musicians, sports personalities and other distinguished guests donated their time on September 11th to honor the memories of those who lost their lives on 9/11 by raising more than $12 million for charities around the world. This special event, called Charity Day, is hosted each year by BGC Partners, Inc. (NASDAQ: BGCP) (“BGC Partners” or “BGC”), a leading global brokerage company servicing the financial and real estate markets, and its affiliates Cantor Fitzgerald and GFI Group. Celebrities who attended the event included Matthew McConaughey, Common, and Liev Schreiber in New York, and Nicole Scherzinger, Tom Hardy and Jimmy Carr in London.
In addition to the millions of dollars raised for many worthy causes, BGC Partners, Cantor Fitzgerald and GFI Group announced they are raising $5 million for the families severely impacted by Hurricanes Maria and Jose in Puerto Rico. These funds will be raised over the next several months and prepaid $1000 American Express® cash cards will be distributed to 5,000 families in January 2019.

Each year, Cantor Fitzgerald, BGC Partners and GFI Group donate 100 percent of the global revenues generated on Charity Day to the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund and, to date, have raised approximately $159 million globally since its inception in 2005.

Rebuilding Together is providing free critical home repairs to eligible homeowners affected by Superstorm Sandy through our affiliates in New York City, Long Island, Bergen County, Jersey City, and Essex County. As of October 2013, these affiliates have brought together over 3,150 volunteers to complete work on more than 250 projects that assist more than 430 people.

PrimeSource® has entered into a year-long partnership with Rebuilding Together to provide Grip-Rite® product donations in support of the organization’s disaster recovery efforts for families and communities across the country.
After a disaster has occurred and damages and needs have been assessed, PrimeSource will work to support Rebuilding Together affiliates in affected areas with Grip-Rite tools and building materials, allowing Rebuilding Together to focus their efforts on recovery coordination and skilled volunteer recruitment.

Hundreds of Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteers teamed up with local Habitat for Humanity affiliates Friday to build homes in 10 cities across America and kick off “Hammers for Habitat,” a nationwide volunteer drive to mobilize 100,000 new volunteers to raise a hammer for Habitat this year.
From Seattle to Atlanta, volunteers framed homes in Lowe’s store parking lots and left several standing through the weekend to raise awareness of the need for volunteers to help Habitat reach its goal of serving one million people annually by 2018. In New York, volunteers from eight Lowe’s stores partnered with Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County to raise the walls of a new home in the middle of Times Square.
