The festivities will be highlighted with a weekend of celebration Aug. 5-6, 2016. The anniversary celebration will feature exciting sweepstakes, giveaways, a self-guided historical walking tour and photo exhibit, an interactive social photo experience, special room packages, 50th birthday offers, marquee events and more. The legendary resort set the standard when it first opened on Aug. 5, 1966 and today remains an incredible force at the center of the famous Las Vegas Strip.

The best lumberjack athletes in the country return to Milwaukee from July 27 to 29 to thrill fans with amazing athletic performances in the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series Championships. The competitions, presented by STIHL and sponsored by John Deere, Duluth Trading Company, and Harley-Davidson, will feature the U.S. Collegiate, Men’s Professional, and Women’s Professional Championships. For the second straight year, German Fest Milwaukee will host the event. A record 15,000 fans attended the 2017 U.S. Championships and another record crowd is expected this year.
“Having the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® U.S. Championships return to German Fest is huge for us. The German Federal Foreign Office (FFO), the Goethe-Institut, and the Federation of German Industry (BDI), announce the launch of WanderbUS, an immersive traveling exhibit bringing German culture to 48 states over five months. Launching March 5th in Washington, D.C., the WanderbUS will hit the road to visit high schools and universities in every state within the continental US. Staffed with a team of educational professionals, the tour will feature presentations, games and virtual reality tours of German landmarks including Hamburg, Nuernberg and Frankfurt.
