In 1902, a Methodist minister with a burlap sack had a bold new idea about how to help people find jobs and provide for their families. More than a century later, that idea has evolved into a more than $5 billion social enterprise that has radically transformed the way we think about helping people to help themselves. Goodwill is thrilled to celebrate this rich history with the release of a new online video marking the nonprofit’s 115-year anniversary.
Using historical footage spanning decades since its humble beginnings, juxtaposed with images of modern-day Goodwill program participants, “115 Years of Goodwill,” demonstrates how one of the world’s foremost nonprofit organizations has grown while providing opportunity for millions of people to find jobs, earn paychecks and build their careers.

Volvo Cars, the premium car maker, has announced that it will introduce Skype for Business, Microsoft’s leading collaborative productivity app, to its new 90 Series cars. Volvo Cars is the first carmaker to launch such an in-car productivity tool.
“We’ve all been there. Sitting in the car trying to join a conference call. You either fumble with or drop your phone while trying to connect or you forget the long pin code to join. It’s not the best way to start an important call in the car. On top of all that your attention is not where it should be – on the road. With the addition of Skype for Business all that goes away,” said Anders Tylman-Mikiewicz Vice President Consumer Connectivity Services at Volvo Car Group.
Skype for Business is actively used by millions of people at work around the globe. In Volvo’s 90 Series cars people will be able to view their upcoming meetings and participant details, and join meetings with one click via the large centre display.

Millions of children in the United States don’t have health coverage. As a result, it may be difficult or impossible for them to get the routine preventive care that keeps them healthy or access to the care they need if they get sick or injured. But, the majority of the nation’s uninsured children are eligible for free or low-cost health coverage through their state Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). They can apply for the comprehensive benefits these programs provide at any time, and now the enrollment process is faster.
