Twenty-two vehicles earn the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's highest safety award for 2014, TOP SAFETY PICK+, thanks to a high level of protection in crashes and the availability of front crash prevention technology to avoid many collisions in the first place. An additional 17 earn TOP SAFETY PICK by meeting the crashworthiness criteria alone.
IIHS is using new criteria for the awards this year. TOP SAFETY PICK requires good performance in the Institute's moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests and, for the first time, good or acceptable performance in the small overlap front test introduced in 2012. The same level of performance in those tests, along with at least a basic rating for front crash prevention, is required for the higher accolade, TOP SAFETY PICK+.
Installing child restraints can frustrate even the most capable of parents. A system called Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children is supposed to make things easier by standardizing attachment hardware, but a new study shows that many automakers aren’t paying attention to the key factors that make LATCH work. Only 21 of the 98 top-selling 2010-11 model passenger vehicles evaluated have LATCH designs that are easy to use. This is the main finding of joint research conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI).

Today, GENYOUth announced the launch of Fuel Up to Play 60 en español, an evolution of its national flagship program. The program encourages Spanish-speaking communities nationwide to live healthier lifestyles through good nutrition and physical activity. Fuel Up to Play 60 launched a redesigned website (FuelUpToPlay60.com) that provides Spanish-language content and materials, extending the reach and access of the program to students, teachers and families across the country. Several organizations have supported the effort, including the PepsiCo Foundation, which has provided a previously announced grant of $550,000 to develop Spanish-language materials and resources. In addition the PepsiCo Foundation will provide another $100,000 for mini-grants for health and wellness activities and programming within Los Angeles Unified School District and Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Fuel Up to Play 60, a program founded by the National Football League (NFL) and National Dairy Council (NDC), is designed to engage and empower youth to take action for their own health by implementing long-term, positive nutrition and physical activity changes for themselves, their schools and their communities. Studies show that physical fitness may benefit brain health and academic performance, suggesting active kids may do better. However, only 1 in 3 kids are active every day, potentially leaving many at a disadvantage inside and outside of the classroom.

Eight out of 10 people will be affected by back pain at some point during their lives, making it the No. 1 cause of disability worldwide and resulting in as much as $200 billion in lost wages and productivity. Many sufferers struggle for years to find relief, but treatment options often only provide short-term relief or, in the case of pain medication, carry serious side effects, including drowsiness, liver damage and potential for addiction. Now, thanks to Hocoma, a leader in the development of robotic and sensor-based medical devices for functional movement therapy, consumers have a new way to improve and sustain low back health in the comfort of their own home.

Utica College President Todd S. Hutton announced today that the College is resetting the on-campus undergraduate tuition price beginning Fall 2016. The new tuition price will be under $20,000, and the college will continue to offer both need-based and merit-based financial aid to lower the cost to qualified students and their families even further.
“We consider this tuition reset to be a bold move for tomorrow,” Dr. Hutton says, “because in improving affordability, we are also expanding access to a high quality Utica College education that launches our students’ successful futures.”
The tuition reset comes at a time when private colleges and universities throughout the nation are taking a hard look at their pricing system. Many college-bound students and their families do not realize that the full price will likely be deeply discounted for them by a private college, and so they experience “sticker shock” upon seeing the published price.

http://fitnessweightlosscenter.com - Upright Rows | Traps Workouts - The upright row is a multi-joint exercise that not only works the front and middle heads of the deltoids, but also works your biceps and your trapezoids as secondary or auxiliary muscles. This is a great exercise for giving width to your shoulders and for raising your trapezius muscles as well. It's a great upper body exercise and will really help to broaden out the base of the neck and the shoulder line.
Be very careful with how much weight you use for this exercise. Too much weight leads to bad form, which in turn will cause shoulder injury. I've seen this too many times so please do not allow jerking and swinging of the weights. If you suffer from shoulder problems, then stay away from upright rows and substitute this exercise by some form of lateral raises coupled with shrugs.
The shoulders are among the body parts most likely to be injured during resistance training. And upright rows are one of those exercises which could injure them. Most of those who regularly hit the weights do this exercise incorrectly, so saying it is unsafe is not strictly true. Much of it has to do with how the exercise is performed. Simply by limiting the range of motion - that is, not lifting the elbows past the shoulders.
