Grapevine, Texas has some new characters in town. The interesting thing is, you have to look upwards 75 feet toward Grapevine’s Glockenspiel Clock Tower to see them.
Grapevine recently dedicated its 127-foot-high Clock Tower featuring two larger-than-life, 9-foot tall Glockenspiel characters, known as the Would-Be Train Robbers, Nat Barrett and Willy Majors. Located 75 feet in the air within the Clock Tower, these figures emerge each day shortly before the stroke of noon and 6 p.m. to attempt the perfect heist. Just as Glockenspiels in Europe are rooted in history, Grapevine’s Clock Tower figures reflect the Western lore that many visitors from outside Texas find interesting and entertaining. The debut was featured as part of the dedication of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Headquarters and Museum Complex during the City’s 28th Annual Main Street Days festival.

Applications are now open for the interview of a lifetime – a 10-day world tour - launched by Grant’s Whisky as part of its search for a new Global Brand Ambassador for 2018. In a job interview like no other, three final candidates will each travel to a trio of countries, ranging from Colombia to Poland, India and South Africa equipped with a suitcase full of Grant’s to share with the friends they’re yet to meet.
Their journey will echo the legendary trip taken in 1909 by Charles Grant Gordon, the son in law of the founder of Grant’s Whisky, William Grant. Charles set sail with a suitcase of Grant’s and an ambition to introduce it to the world. 110 years later, Grant’s chosen Global Brand Ambassador will follow in his footsteps throughout 2018.

Entering its 10th year of providing gout education, the Gout & Uric Acid Education Society (GUAES) is amplifying its efforts on May 22 – National Gout Awareness Day – and encouraging gout sufferers to seek immediate and ongoing treatment. With Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start of the summer driving season fast approaching, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company surprised unsuspecting motorists here today. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Kevin Harvick, along with his pit crew, appeared at Concord Mills Mall and performed free tread depth checks on consumers’ tires.
With National Tire Safety Week set for May 29 through June 4, Harvick and Goodyear collaborated to raise awareness on the importance of proper tire maintenance. As always, consumers can head to any of Goodyear’s Tire & Service Network locations to receive free tire checks.

Continuing its long history of supporting the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, exclusive tire supplier of NASCAR’s three major national series, has launched its fifth annual “Goodyear Gives Back” charitable program benefitting the Support Our Troops® organization.
To kick off the program, Goodyear will once again transform its NASCAR race tires by replacing the “Eagle” sidewall design with “Support Our Troops” messaging on all tires used during Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Times of India “A Day in the Life of Chennai” advertisement won the historic first Cannes Golden Lion for a film from India. It was produced by Good Morning films (www.goodmorningfilms.com)
The main crew that set out to shoot this film was not unlike a task force from the UN. UP-ite, Bengali, Punjabi, Parsi, Malayalee, Hyderabadi, Englishman from Australia and Germany and of course Tamilians of Chennai all comprised the backgrounds of the chief technicians of this film.
Jason West (of “Rock on” fame) was entrusted with shooting the Times Of India film and the music was produced by Vijay Anthony and sung by the renowned female folk singer Chinnaponnu.
The location used was Kasimedu - Chennai’s Dharavi, Dongri and Kamatipura all rolled into one. Surprisingly this underbelly of Chennai proved to be not only the most exciting but also the most cooperative and accommodating for our shoot.
The cutouts from the ad ranged from 12 to 50 feet! With the monstrous size of 50 feet also came the nightmarish logistics that were minor issues compared to the fact that all cut outs (except those of the ruling party) were banned from being put up in the city of Chennai! Some swift maneuvering so in some cases, we had to just had to sneak in, get our shots and get out without disrupting normal activity and attract unwanted attention!
The official permission letter for shooting on the various public locations across Chennai reached us only on Day 2 of the shoot and that too with allotted time slots which were the complete opposite of what was requested in the shooting plan submitted to the cops!
Brilliant maneuvering by the production team and some kamikaze shooting techniques adapted by director Bob and DOP Jason resulted in some of the memorable shots and moments of the film.
