The average price of a hotel room around the world rose by 3% during 2012, compared with the previous year, according to the latest Hotels.com Hotel Price Index (HPI). The rate of increase has moderated when judged against the 4% rise in 2011 as the Eurozone’s problems pulled down the global average and slowed growth in the second half of the year. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed sweeping regulations that would require states to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the electricity sector by an average of 30 percent nationally. This costly plan is another step in the administration's policies designed to eliminate low cost and reliable electricity and replace it with more expensive and less reliable sources. "The rule is a stunning attempt to remake the nation's entire electric grid at great cost to households and businesses across the US. Our manufacturing base will become less competitive because of higher electricity prices. The impact of this regulation will be felt by families as they will spend more to heat and cool their homes. Those on fixed incomes and seniors will be forced to pay a disproportionately higher share of their monthly budget on utilities," said Hal Quinn, president and CEO, National Mining Association." Lake Research Partners and Bellwether Research and Consulting recently released a new national poll sponsored by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) that finds likely 2016 voters have widespread and serious concerns about ethanol’s unintended consequences—including damage to engines, land conversion and food prices. “Voters across party lines express grave concerns for the impacts of the corn ethanol mandate from the Renewable Fuel Standard that touch many parts of their lives from the cars they drive to the food they buy,” said Celinda Lake, president of Lake Research Partners. “They strongly support bi-partisan proposals that would reduce the impact of corn ethanol, and particularly support the Environmental Protection Agency reducing the amount of corn ethanol required by law.” As the EPA recently closed the comment period on its proposed ethanol volumes for 2014, 2015 and 2016, the poll also shows that 67 percent of people favor the agency setting ethanol volumes below what is required by law, with 68 percent of Democrats and 71 percent of Republicans supporting volumes lower than the statute. Rising food prices are causing poor children and families in developing countries to sink deeper into hunger and malnutrition, according to Children International, a leading U.S.-based humanitarian organization. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, 925 million people around the world go hungry each day compared to 848 million in 2007. Experts blame the high cost of gasoline and diesel fuel as a main cause for the spike in food prices globally. As gas prices soared in 2010, food prices have risen with the same speed, leaving poor families helped by Children International with few options. Most poor parents work long hours for little pay and lack the money needed to purchase food and cook a nutritious meal. To find out more on the different types of car insurance in NSW visit http://www.nrma.com.au At NRMA Insurance, we’re here to give you all the information you need to choose the best policy for you. That means understanding the difference between agreed value and market value when you take out our Comprehensive Car Insurance. One is not necessarily better than the other. It’s about which one is right for you. Say your car is a total loss and you have chosen agreed value on your comprehensive car insurance policy. Agreed value is a fixed value, that we agree to insure your car for upfront, which includes modifications, options and accessories. This gives you the confidence of knowing how much we’ll pay you if your car is a total loss, less any fees and charges. People often prefer an agreed value if they have finance owing on their car. Market Value on the other hand is the value of your car as determined when an incident happens. This is influenced by such factors as local market prices, as well as the age and condition, of your car. It can be a cheaper option, as the amount you’ll receive is uncertain. We hope this has been informative and you’re now ready to go. Remember that, whether you’re insuring a new car, the weekend wagon or a family hand-me-down, the decision to insure your vehicle for either its Agreed Value or Market Value is entirely up to you with our Comprehensive Car Insurance. If you would like to know more, call us on 132 132. NRMA Insurance. It’s insurance, just NRMADE Better.

Clayton, one of the largest home builders in America, is focused on providing affordable housing options that fit the needs and wants of millennials, who make up 35% of the company’s current customer base. As a demographic, millennials also share different obstacles to obtaining homeownership than those who came before them. For instance, according to the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies (HJCHS), many first-time home buyers possess the household income to qualify for homeownership, but struggle to save money for a down payment due to lingering debts from student loans and other debts. This combined with a low supply of available, affordable houses and a high pool of active buyers is driving up prices and competition. As a result, more millennials are choosing to rent or live with their parents. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the share of millennials in 2015, or adults born between 1982 and 2000, is over 25 percent of the population. At 87 million strong, millennials are the largest generation in history according to HJCHS.
