We owned a 2013 Tesla Model S for 18 months and despite numerous dealer visits and maintenance issues, we were ultimately sad to see it go. It's quick, comfortable, quiet, spacious, and can tote as much cargo as some crossover SUVs. The "85" version can go 265 miles on a charge, so range anxiety is a nonissue. We even drove ours from L.A. to New York in less than three days using Tesla's free Supercharger quick-charge network. We definitely have gripes, including some underwhelming interior trim pieces and a lack of small item storage. There's also the below-average reliability, although our dealer experiences were exceptional. So even though it's not perfect, the Model S remains our favorite electric car.

Substantial changes last year vaulted the Toyota Camry Hybrid onto our top-recommended list. Although it doesn't quite match the fuel economy of some competitors, the real-world cost of that difference is negligible. Plus, dismissing the Camry simply because of an mpg or two would mean missing out on an otherwise compelling sedan. Comfort remains a Camry priority, but this latest Camry Hybrid also handles pretty well.

Der Volkswagen-Konzern geht in die Elektro-Offensive. Der Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid als Plug-in steht seit August bei den Händlern, den reinen Stromer e-up! im Kleinwagen-Segment gibt es ab Oktober zum Kampfpreis von 26.900 Euro in den VW-Autohäusern zu sehen. Und Anfang nächsten Jahres folgen der Audi A3 Sportback e-tron als Plug-in Hybrid und der Golf als reines Elektrofahrzeug, von dem es in 2014 zusätzlich ebenfalls eine Plug-in-Variante geben wird. Weitere Modelle werden folgen, um in jedem Segment einen Stromer oder einen Plug-in Hybrid anbieten zu können und das selbst gesteckte Ziel zu erreichen, bis 2018 der weltweit ökologisch führende Autokonzern zu sein. Dabei bleibt man im VW-Konzern realistisch. Trotz des Volks-Elektroautos e-up! werde der Anteil der reinen Stromer vorerst begrenzt sein. Bis 2018 hofft man aber auf einen Absatz von 300.000 Fahrzeugen mit Ladestecker.
Beim großen Golf GTI-Treffen am Wörthersee enthüllte Audi seinen TT ultra quattro concept - eine Technikstudie, die minimales Gewicht und maximale Sportlichkeit vereint. Diese Sportlichkeit bekamen die Fans auch von der breiten Palette der High-Performance-Cars geboten. Neben dem legendären Sport quattro S1 standen aktuelle RS-Modelle und reinrassige Rennboliden zur Schau. Und auch der Audi R18 e-tron quattro war am See dabei. Im Mittelpunkt des Audi-Auftritts stand aber das TT ultra quattro concept. Das Showcar vereint schlanke 1.111 Kilogramm Gesamtgewicht mit einem 2.0 TFSI-Motor, dessen 228 kW/310 PS und 400 Nm leichtes Spiel mit dem Coupé haben. Aus dem Stand katapultiert sich der TT ultra quattro concept in 4,2 Sekunden auf 100 km/h. Sein Leistungsgewicht von 3,6 kg/PS liegt auf dem Niveau reinrassiger Supersportwagen. Und es lohnt sich auch der Blick ins Detail, schließlich macht das Konzeptauto den automobilen Leichtbau sichtbar. Schon das aktuelle Serienauto mit einem Karosserie-Gewicht von nur 206 Kilogramm plus 98 Kilogramm für die Anbauteile ist ein Beleg für die hohe Leichtbau-Kompetenz von Audi. Für die Karosserie des Wörthersee-Showcars haben die Ingenieure aus Ingolstadt und Neckarsulm den Audi Space Frame (ASF) der aktuellen TT-Generation konsequent weiterentwickelt und die Karosseriestruktur noch einmal um 43 Kilogramm abgespeckt. Zusammen mit den optimierten Anbauteilen ergeben sich 100 Kilogramm Gewichtseinsparung. Die Kombination aus Leichtigkeit und Sportlichkeit spiegelt sich auch in der Optik wieder. Im Vergleich zum Serienmodell haben die Audi Designer die Konturen des Showcars noch einmal deutlich gestrafft. Mit seinen großen Spoilern stellt der TT ultra quattro concept seine Motorsport-Gene zur Schau. So ist der Fuß des Heckflügels als tragendes Bauteil aus gefrästem Aluminium gefertigt, der Flügel als funktionales Element hingegen aus sichtbarem Carbon. Zu den weiteren Highlights am Wörthersee zählte der neue Audi RS 6 Avant. Das Hochleistungsmodell der quattro GmbH bietet mehr Effizienz und stärkere Fahrleistungen bei verringertem Gewicht. Und natürlich durfte auch der neue RS 7 Sportback fehlen. Sein starkes Herz ist ebenfalls der 4.0 TFSI V8 Biturbo. Die Leistung von 412 kW / 560 PS liegt im Bereich von 5.700 bis 6.600 Umdrehungen an. Zwischen 1.750 und 5.500 1/min sind konstant 700 Nm Drehmoment verfügbar. Neben dem raketenartigen Schub ist der Sound ein wichtiger Bestandteil des Fahrerlebnisses: Auf Tastendruck und beim kräftigen Gas geben sorgen schaltbare Klappen in der Abgasanlage für einen noch volleren Klang, optional montiert Audi eine Sport-Abgasanlage. Ebenso auf dem Audi Stand präsentierte sich der neue Audi RS Q3 als erstes RS-Modell in der erfolgreichen Q Familie. Es ist das vierte Modell, das die quattro GmbH in diesem Jahr auf den Markt bringen wird. The press conference has been convened for the official launch of IAGTO’s 2nd Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) that will take place in Pattaya from 29 April to 2 May this year. The AGTC is the largest and most important gathering of Asia’s golf tourism industry. IAGTO will be bringing to Thailand 150 golf tour operators from 35 countries who all sell golf holidays to Asian golf destinations. Over 500 delegates will participate including more than 60 golf resorts, golf clubs, and hotels from Thailand.
Schockierende Ergebnisse beim aktuellen ADAC Werkstatt-Test: 78 Prozent der getesteten freien Werkstätten sind glatt durchgefallen - 28 von 36 untersuchten Betrieben haben die Bewertung „mangelhaft“ erhalten. Bei den Werkstatt-Ketten (A.T.U, Bosch, Meisterhaft und 1a Autoservice) sieht das Bild nur unwesentlich besser aus – hier fielen 17 von 36 Betrieben durch (47 Prozent). Des Weiteren zeigt der Test deutlich, dass die Freien bei der Inspektion nicht günstiger sind als die Ketten. Insgesamt enttäuschend bei dieser Stichprobe des ADAC: Von allen getesteten 72 Betrieben (Freie und Werkstatt-Ketten) erhielten gerade einmal sechs die Wertung „sehr gut“ (8 Prozent). Testgewinner bei den Ketten ist ein A.T.U-Betrieb in Hamburg (Heidhorst 3). Positiv: Keine einzige A.T.U-Werkstatt erhielt die Note mangelhaft. Den Testern des ADAC fiel bei A.T.U zudem auf, dass bei der Inspektionsannahme offen und realistisch über die voraussichtlichen Kosten gesprochen wird. Sechs der neun getesteten A.T.U-Service-Unternehmen fanden alle vom ADAC vorbereiteten Mängel. Bei den Bosch-Werkstätten fielen drei Betriebe durch, bei „1a“ sechs und bei Meisterhaft acht. Von allen freien Werkstätten hat Riegelhof Karosseriebau in Frankfurt/Main am besten abgeschnitten.Der Club hat die Werkstätten mit Fahrzeugen der Modelle Audi A3, Renault Megane und VW Golf 5 getestet. Vor der Prüfung wurden die Autos mit Mängeln präpariert: Ein verstelltes Scheinwerferlicht, eine defekte Kofferraumleuchte, ein ausgehängtes ABS-Kabel, ein zu niedriger Kühlmittelstand sowie ein Ersatzrad mit zu wenig Reifendruck, fehlendes oder abgelaufenes Pannenset. Die Arbeitsleistung wurde mit höchstens 60 Punkten, der Service mit maximal 40 Punkten bewertet. Punktabzug gab es, wenn wesentliche Serviceleistungen fehlten oder Zusatzarbeiten ohne vorherigen Auftrag ausgeführt wurden. Fazit des ADAC: Auch im Werkstatt-Test 2013 arbeiteten viele Betriebe die Inspektionsliste nicht sorgfältig ab, da nicht alle versteckten Fehler gefunden wurden. Nachholbedarf gibt es auch beim Kundenservice. Deshalb rät der Club den Verbrauchern, den Wagen zusammen mit dem Serviceberater anzuschauen und den Wartungsauftrag schriftlich zu erteilen. So werden Missverständnisse weitgehend ausgeschlossen.
