The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is back! CES is the world’s gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. Held in Las Vegas every year, it has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for more than 40 years—the global stage where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace.
It’s not only the world's largest annual tradeshow for consumer technology, but it is also America's largest annual tradeshow of any kind. The first CES took place in New York City in June of 1967 with 200 exhibitors and 17,500 attendees. Since then, CES has grown more than seven-fold. CES now showcases more than 3,600 exhibiting companies, including manufacturers, developers and suppliers of consumer technology hardware, content, technology delivery systems and more and more than 150K attendees from 150 countries.
Nationally recognized consumer trends and technology expert Todd Townsend will provide viewers with a rare preview of some the latest technology available for 2016.
In anticipation of Thomas Edison’s birthday and National Inventors' Day on Feb. 11, the National Inventors Hall of Fame®, in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), announces it will induct 15 innovation pioneers for their world-changing inventions on May 2-3 during The Greatest Celebration of American Innovation.
This year’s Class of Inductees includes innovators such as Ching Wan Tang and Steven Van Slyke (OLED display technology), Stan Honey (football’s “yellow first-and-ten line”), Mary Engle Pennington (food preservation and storage), and Paul Terasaki (tissue typing for organ transplants), just to name a few. Sadly, the probability of World War 3 in our lifetime is greater than the odds that peace will come to the Middle East, or Iraq, or Syria, or any of these other flashpoint regions. Keep an eye on these conflicts, because when any one of them heats up, so too do oil and gold prices.
Thankfully, there are far more reasons to avoid war than to engage in it. Nevertheless, WW3 will happen when all those who were affected by WW2 are gone. Until then, there will be numerous spikes in gold and oil prices, each time global tensions rise.
Carson-Dellosa Publishing, LLC, in partnership with Guinness World Records, announced the grand-prize winner in its Guinness World Records® Classroom Challenge at a record-breaking event held Friday, May 20th in Owingsville, KY. As grand-prize winners under the direction of 4th Grade teacher Jessica Goldy, the students of Owingsville Elementary School created the world’s longest friendship bracelet. Students created a total of 3,799 links that were connected to make one bracelet measuring 810 feet. Friday morning, under the supervision of a Guinness World Records® adjudicator, the exciting event was held on the school’s football field.
