The relative strength of the global hotel sector can be seen as an indicator of a potential turnaround in the economic outlook with the average price of a room around the world rising 4% in 2011, according to the latest Hotels.com® Hotel Price Index™ (HPI®). The continuing strength in corporate travel, in particular, helped to push up demand and room rates, although prices were still generally lower than in 2005. The HPI looks at prices that people actually paid for their hotel room around the world. Last year, prices fell 2% in Asia year-on-year but rose in all other areas: 8% in the Pacific, 5% in North America, 4% in Latin America, 3% in the Caribbean and 2% in Europe and the Middle East. The overall increase reflected a continuing trend of steady recovery after a 13% tumble in 2009. To view Multimedia News Release, go to http://www.multivu.com/mnr/53785-hotels

Touch-screen technology is everywhere and it comes as no surprise that today’s children are practically born digital. It’s second nature for even the youngest children to pick up a smart device and instinctively navigate to find their favorite, age-appropriate apps. As parents try to help their children find a healthy balance between traditional and tech play, one thing is for certain…this growing trend isn’t slowing down any time soon. In 2011, Fisher-Price, the leading maker of infant and preschool toys and Mattel’s largest brand, took an innovative approach to integrating “app-cessories” into its product line by creating the Laugh & Learn™ Apptivity™ Case for iPhone® and iPod® touch devices to protect parents’ coveted devices from babies’ dribble and drool. The Apptivity Case, appropriate for children ages six months+, was developed in conjunction with free Laugh & Learn apps to enable infants to experience their favorite Laugh & Learn characters, like the beloved Puppy, in a new, engaging format. Car-buying platform Edmunds.com today released an update to its acclaimed mobile app with a new feature that now makes it possible for shoppers to send text messages to car dealers with just a touch of a button. The innovation is the latest step in the growing trend of consumers drawn to “place messaging,” which offers a convenient way to interact with businesses via text in the same way that they do with friends and family. Unlike other place messaging solutions that only work in concert with apps such as Snapchat and WhatsApp, Edmunds’ texting solution uses the phone’s native texting platform. That means all smartphones are capable of messaging dealers without relying on any other apps. Brooklyn-based Victoria Fine Foods, the top-selling slow kettle cooked pasta sauce manufacturer in the U.S., announces today that it will expand distribution this month in more than 400 cities across Florida and California. In total, nearly 2,500 stores across Florida and southern California will stock the company’s premium line of kettle-cooked pasta sauces by the end of the month. Suggested retail price for Victoria’s premium line of pasta sauces range from $7.99 - $8.99 per 24-ounce jar. Victoria’s growth is, in part, a reflection of growing consumer interest in better-for-you, minimally-processed foods; a trend that fits the company’s core ingredients-first approach. In fact, since its inception in 1929 the company has used only fresh, real food ingredients that are kettle-cooked in small batches to provide a true homemade sauce in ready-to-eat form. To celebrate its new availability in California and Florida, Victoria has launched a recipe contest to identify the best pasta dish in each new region. Participants can enter simply by uploading a photo of their favorite pasta recipe using the hashtag #Pastaratzzi for a chance to win a $1,000 kitchenware makeover and other prizes. For contest details, visit www.Facebook.com/VictoriaFineFoods. To view the multimedia release go to: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7630151-victoria-fine-foods-expansion/

Next time you get the feeling that the floor is falling out from beneath your feet, it might just be an ESP Detection Floor that comes to your aid. Developed in the Netherlands, the ESP Detection Floor system uses electronic flooring underlay panels to monitor rooms by detecting human movement. The panels detect if someone has fallen over and automatically notify an emergency control center.. Of course, when it comes to flooring, aesthetic design is just as important as functionality. Which is why DOMOTEX 2014 will explore trends in flooring functionality and design. The rug designer Jürgen Dahlmanns and the internationally renowned architect Jürgen Mayer H. have given a preview of their contributions to DOMOTEX 2014.

A whopping 80 percent of enterprises are investing today in AI, but one in three business leaders believe their company will need to invest more over the next 36 months to keep pace with competitors. At the same time, enterprises are anticipating significant barriers to adoption and are looking to strategize against those issues by creating a new C-suite position, the Chief AI Officer (CAIO), to streamline and coordinate AI adoption. These results come from a survey of 260 large organizations that operate globally, conducted by leading technology industry market research firm Vanson Bourne on behalf of Teradata (NYSE: TDC), the leading data and analytics company. “There is an important trend emerging evident in this report — enterprises today see AI as a strategic priority that will help them outpace the competition in their respective industries,” says Atif Kureishy, Vice President, Emerging Practices at Think Big Analytics, a Teradata company. “But to leverage the full potential of this technology and gain maximum ROI, these businesses will need to revamp their core strategies so AI has an embedded role from the data center to the boardroom.” To view the multimedia release go to: https://www.multivu.com/players/English/8075951-teradata-state-of-artificial-intelligence-ai-for-enterprises/
