Florida's softshell turtles are being killed at an alarming rate- twenty per day per trapper!
Their meat is usually shipped straight to China, where the turtle populations have long been depleted by the medicine and soup industries.
Because it takes ten years for a single one of these turtles to grow up, this hunt is unsustainable.

Ten percent of executives interviewed for the Robert Half Professional Employment Report (http://www.roberthalf.us/per) said they plan to increase the number of full-time employees in professional occupations in the first quarter of 2011, while 5 percent anticipate declines. The first Meet the Media of 2015 was hosted at One Great George Street, the home of the Institute of Civil Engineers, and featured Simon Jack giving an insight into the workings of the Today programme.
Simon has worked across every outlet at the BBC, presenting business news on the one o'clock, six o'clock and ten o’clock news and as the face of BBC Breakfast’s business news. He is currently the Business and Economics Presenter on Radio 4's Today Programme.
