Grapevine, Texas has some new characters in town. The interesting thing is, you have to look upwards 75 feet toward Grapevine’s Glockenspiel Clock Tower to see them.
Grapevine recently dedicated its 127-foot-high Clock Tower featuring two larger-than-life, 9-foot tall Glockenspiel characters, known as the Would-Be Train Robbers, Nat Barrett and Willy Majors. Located 75 feet in the air within the Clock Tower, these figures emerge each day shortly before the stroke of noon and 6 p.m. to attempt the perfect heist. Just as Glockenspiels in Europe are rooted in history, Grapevine’s Clock Tower figures reflect the Western lore that many visitors from outside Texas find interesting and entertaining. The debut was featured as part of the dedication of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Headquarters and Museum Complex during the City’s 28th Annual Main Street Days festival.

Seventy-five (75) percent of people with dementia and 64 percent of caregivers believe there are negative associations for those diagnosed with dementia in their countries, according to survey fielded by Alzheimer’s Disease International and published today in the World Alzheimer Report 2012: Overcoming the Stigma of Dementia. The report was released on Alzheimer’s Action Day as part of World Alzheimer’s Month activities engaging people in the cause and raising awareness about the disease.
In response, Alzheimer’s Association® Early-Stage Advisors, men and women from across the U.S. living with the disease, and their caregivers developed tips on how to cope with the stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s based on their personal experiences.

Likely 2016 presidential candidates are already visiting battleground states where casino gaming supports more than half-a-million jobs and contributes $75 billion to local communities. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) today announced it has committed $40.3 million in new research investments to advance the most promising blood cancer science at leading academic and medical centers around the world, including Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston; Weill Cornell Medicine and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York; MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston; Fondazione Centro San Raffaele in Milan; and South Australian Health & Medical Research Institute in Adelaide.
This $40.3 million investment, comprised of 75 new research grants in LLS’s portfolio of 300 projects, will fund a diverse array of research to find better treatments and cures for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood cancers.

“Want to enjoy life,” “like to learn things,” “look for adventures and like to take risks” – these traits tell the story of how Americans perceive entrepreneurs, as revealed in the 2015 Amway Global Entrepreneurship Report (AGER).
It’s an optimism that permeates the research again this year, with 86 percent of Americans expressing positive attitudes toward entrepreneurship, up a remarkable 24 percent from 2014 and a resounding 11 percent more than the 2015 global average (75 percent). Echoed by their strong desire for “independence from an employer” and “self-fulfillment, possibility to realize own ideas,” at 75 percent and 72 percent respectively, this positivity is indicative of the country’s thriving entrepreneurial spirit.
“The attitude toward entrepreneurship is not only remarkably high but significantly increased from last year when fewer than two-thirds of respondents reported a positive attitude,” notes Dr. David B. Audretsch, professor and director of the Institute for Development Strategies at the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs. “What’s more, the secondary importance of financial compensation contradicts the most prevalent stereotypes and myths about why people choose entrepreneurship.”

The gastronomic gathering that is the Food Network & Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival presented by Capital One (NYCWFF) returns to the Big Apple for its 11th edition October 11 – 14 with more than 75 events taking place across New York. As part of a yearlong 75th anniversary celebration, Crowe CEO Jim Powers challenged personnel to volunteer 75,000 hours in their communities, more than double the number of volunteer hours from the previous year.
“Not only did our people meet the 75,000-hour challenge, they crushed it,” said Powers. “By the end of the challenge, we volunteered 82,000 hours, the equivalent of providing 39 full-time people at the nonprofits we served.” Two-thirds of personnel volunteered during the year, well above the industry norm of 31 percent. Using data from Independent Sector, the volunteer hours translate to an economic impact of more than $2 million for the nonprofits.
