Mexican-American singer-songwriter Becky G and Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and musician Raquel Sofia are taking you for a ride at two of the summer’s biggest music festivals – Lollapalooza and Outside Lands.
Powered by the Toyota Corolla, these artists will share their journey through real-time social media content. The series, “Musica y Destinos con Toyota,” kicked-off on Friday, July 31 with Becky G (@iambeckyg) sharing her musical experience at Lollapalooza at Grant Park in Chicago. The iconic festival featured a diverse range of musical acts, including Paul McCartney, Sam Smith and Metallica.
During the three-day event, Becky G met with Gogol Bordello, a Gypsy-punk band known for their authentic energy and theatrical stage shows. Crosstex International, a subsidiary of Cantel Medical Corp. (NYSE:CMN), and Prestige Ameritech, the only two major U.S.-based medical mask manufacturers have joined forces to bring attention to a glaring void in public health research and policy – that, if addressed, has the potential to more quickly provide a simple, effective tool to mitigate the spread of influenza and other respiratory borne viruses. The awareness campaign comes in response to a new study, “ Exposure to Influenza Virus Aerosols During Routine Patient Care,” published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases, showing that influenza viruses may spread as far as six feet from a person coughing or sneezing, and that some people, referred to as “super spreaders,” may be more likely to spread the virus. The study, supported by the Department of Health and Human Services with a $600,000 research grant, pointed specifically to concerns for healthcare workers being exposed to coughs from sick patients. Yet government research and policy continues to overlook face masks as a feasible protection measure for both the healthcare industry and the general public.

Jason Rogers, 12, a 7th grade student at Bondurant Middle School in Frankfort, likes sports and plays football, basketball, baseball and soccer. He also likes math and, if he doesn’t get to play professional sports when he grows up, he wants to be an engineer.
Jason is one of 700 minority boys from middle schools in four states who are spending several weeks this summer gaining hands-on learning experiences with advanced technology through a first-of-its-kind program designed to inspire minority males to explore education and career opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields.

Announced today by VICHY Laboratoires, the VICHY EXPOSOME GRANT will promote and encourage research activity on the skin exposome. One research grant of 15 000 € will be awarded annually to a research project proposal in the field of exposome and skin.
What is exposome?
The human body is subjected to and responds to complex exposures throughout the lifespan, including exposures from the environment, diet, lifestyle. For this highly complex interaction, the term exposome was recently coined by Dr. Christopher Wild at the World Health Organization‘s International Agency for Research on Cancer.
The exposome analysis, therefore, complements the human genome by providing a comprehensive description of individuals’ lifelong environmental exposures. Exposome research aims to look at the holistic view of the human body’s exposures, how the body responds to those exposures, and their combined effects.

ATLANTA — January 29, 2019 — The Krystal Foundation announces $101,112.78 in enrichment funding for 31 schools and school-affiliated organizations. These grant recipients were chosen from 229 applications received during the Foundation’s first two grant windows for the 2018-2019 academic year. The next grant window opens on February 1 and extends to March 1 when recipients will be selected for an additional $50,000 for impactful programming in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) as well as music, sports and culinary arts.
“Krystal is fully invested in the communities we serve,” said Paul Macaluso, Krystal president and CEO and president of The Krystal Foundation. “The Foundation helps pay for programs that foster academic enrichment, while building life skills for the children of our customers and our employees.”
