Ana Schmidt has been announced as the winner of the 2018 Columbia Threadneedle Prize, Europe’s leading open competition for figurative and representational art, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Ana receives a cash prize of £20,000 and a solo exhibition for a wider body of work in the Threadneedle Space at Mall Galleries.
Ana Schmidt is a 'realist' painter based in Bilbao, where she works as an urban planning architect and figurative painter. Her work focuses on depictions of urban landscapes and how they appear in our everyday experience. Finding inspiration from her immediate surroundings, Ana is especially interested in painting the territorial changes brought on over the last decades by the process of urban transformation and sprawl.

Company executives were on hand to build the 10-millionth tool – a 20V MAX* XR Lithium Ion Brushless 3-Speed Hammer Drill (DCD996P2).
Across its seven U.S. manufacturing plants, the brand produced more than 90 million individual products Made in the USA with global materials in 2016, an almost 50 percent increase from the 62 million individual products in 2015, just one year earlier. This is a meaningful accomplishment towards the brand’s effort to expand its domestic manufacturing using global materials, an effort that began in 2013. Farmers Insurance is ringing in the New Year by honoring those who make us smarter with the “Thank A Million Teachers” float at the Tournament of Roses Parade. In Farmers’ 55th entry to the renowned event, the float will celebrate the “Thank A Million Teachers” initiative, which invites America to make 2014 the year to thank a million teachers. Riding the float will be honored educators from Montana and Nevada, alongside local Los Angeles students. Through the “Thank A Million Teachers” platform, Farmers has committed up to $1,000,000 in funds to classrooms and education programs.
