The Art of the Olympians began as a dream of Olympic gold medalist Al Oerter. He spent the last two years of his life organizing Art of the Olympians by collecting artwork in various mediums from Olympic athletes, lobbied for a permanent location in Fort Myers and worked in partnership with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), which ultimately lead to an agreement for the Art of the Olympians to display the U.S. Olympic rings at the facility.

Building on its collection of highly regarded craft and automatic coffee products, KitchenAid is introducing two new additions designed to satisfy even the most demanding coffee lovers. They include a Digital Scale Jar accessory for the KitchenAid® Burr Grinder and a 12-Cup Coffee Maker with One Touch Brewing that simplifies the ritual of preparing a proper cup of coffee.
“These new coffee products address several fundamentals of brewing superior coffee,” notes Derek Ernst, global director of marketing for KitchenAid® Small Appliances. “Namely, weighing beans precisely before grinding to the desired consistency and creating the ideal timing, temperature and conditions for exposing ground beans to pure, filtered water.”
“And because making coffee is generally a daily ritual for coffee lovers, we’ve incorporated timeless design elements inspired by our iconic stand mixer to ensure it’s worthy of a permanent place on the countertop,” he added.

The National WWII Museum today opened its newest permanent exhibit: Richard C. Adkerson & Freeport-McMoRan Foundation Road to Tokyo: Pacific Theater Galleries. Retracing the grueling trail that led from Pearl Harbor to Tokyo Bay, Road to Tokyo explores the evolving strategy for fighting relentless Japanese forces in Asia and the Pacific, examining cultural differences, logistical challenges and the staggering range of extreme conditions that confronted American military forces in Asia and the Pacific.
Along with Road to Tokyo, the Museum also opened a new exhibit on the US Merchant Marine. LTJG Ralph E. Crump Merchant Marine Gallery is a stand-alone gallery that honors the mariners who risked their lives transporting weapons, men and matériel to distant warfronts. Features include a video, artifacts, a model of a Liberty ship and an engaging array of personal narratives. The gallery is situated in the Solomon Victory Theater complex, at the end of the American Spirit Bridge – a new glass-and-metal bridge that connects the Museum’s Louisiana Memorial Pavilion with the rest of the six-acre campus for the first time.

Today, the Ad Council in partnership with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, AdoptUSKids, and KBS launched new public service advertisements (PSAs) for the award-winning Adoption from Foster Care campaign. The new television and radio PSAs encourage the adoption of older youth from foster care.
Of the 428,000 youth under the age of 18 in the U.S. foster care system, 112,000 are currently waiting for adoptive families, according to the most recent Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) data. Since the project’s launch in 2002, more than 26,000 children who were once photo listed on the AdoptUSKids website have been placed with permanent families. However, older youth and teens have lower adoption rates than younger children, and they often wait longer to be adopted. Currently, of the 5,560 youth photo-listed on the website as available for adoption, 43% are between the ages of 15 and 18 years old.

Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for the SYNERGY™ Bioabsorbable Polymer Drug-Eluting Stent System (BP-DES) for the treatment of coronary artery disease.
With this FDA approval, Boston Scientific will commence commercialization of the first and only BP-DES in the U.S. Notably, both the drug coating and the polymer – which modulates drug release – are fully absorbed shortly after drug elution is complete at three months.
The SYNERGY Stent provides synchronized drug and polymer absorption. It is designed to enable more rapid and complete arterial healing, and to thereby reduce the risk of complications associated with long-term polymer exposure compared to currently-used drug-eluting stents (DES) with permanent polymers.
