This year, parents of nearly 16,000 children in the U.S. will hear the words: “Your child has cancer.” One in five of those children won’t survive. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and as a leader in the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® will focus on raising awareness and funds for this very important issue.
Despite significant progress made by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rates from 20 to more than 80 percent since the hospital opened in 1962, cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease for children over the age of 1. Each year about 175,000 children are diagnosed with cancer worldwide, and 60 percent of these kids don’t have access to modern treatment. For those who win their battles against childhood cancer, victory often comes at a cost as survivors face a much higher risk of experiencing unique long-term health effects later in life.

Sensei Titus Jansen martial arts video! In these days you hear many people state that the Koga Ryu Ninjutsu is dead. To be honest it is not a proven fact. the answer: Sensei Titus Mathijn Jansen from Aschendorf has his own Koga Ryu Ninjutsu martial arts school in Winschoten the Netherlands. His School is called, Kage Ryu Dojo what means: Shadow Dragon School. Sensei Titus Jansen is training in the martial arts since he was 5 years old. No he is spreading the Koga Ryu Ninjutsu system to the public. The Koga Ryu Ninjutsu is a bit different then the well known Bujinkan system om grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi.

Just when they are having a great time, an epic fail occurs when a woman crashes into another wheel and then faceplants very hard. You can allmost feel the pain when you hear the smash on the carpet floor. She deserves it. Get ready to laugh @ this epic failure. Playing the harmonica, dancing, bowling: For Brookdale Senior Living resident Dorothy Plummer, these longtime passions bring purpose as well as pleasure to daily life. What may be surprising is that Plummer is not only 103 – she is living with dementia. Plummer embodies Brookdale’s mission of person-centered care, which focuses on sustaining individual interests and daily routines to give meaning to each person’s life. As part of National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, Brookdale is offering a free downloadable journal to help others with dementia look for ways to live life to the fullest.
“When people hear someone has Alzheimer’s, the label of the disease can unfortunately replace who the person is,” said Juliet Holt Klinger, senior director of dementia care for Brookdale. “Their life becomes shaped by the diagnosis. The things they love to do may be taken away when they don’t need to be. This can cause disengagement, potentially leading to depression, isolation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and even falls.”
