In addition, FedEx will donate an MD-10-30 cargo aircraft to ORBIS to be the third-generation Flying Eye Hospital. The Flying Eye Hospital will also visit Burlington, VT, Dallas/Fort Worth, TX, Memphis, TN, and Toronto and Ottawa, Canada between August and November to raise public awareness of the need to eliminate avoidable blindness.

ORBIS is excited to announce the return of its Flying Eye Hospital (FEH) to EAA AirVenture at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Orbis, the international nonprofit that unites the world in the fight against blindness, is proud to land its new, state-of-the-art Flying Eye Hospital in Shenyang, China this week to commence its first training program, running from September 5 - 23. Six years in the making, the third-generation Flying Eye Hospital is the world’s only mobile ophthalmic teaching hospital on board an MD-10 aircraft, donated by FedEx. Hundreds of experts have come together to combine the latest in avionics, hospital engineering, technology and clinical expertise to make the new Flying Eye Hospital a reality. It features modular design, 3D technology and live broadcast capabilities, which enables Orbis and their expert Volunteer Faculty to train more doctors, nurses and healthcare professionals—ultimately treating more people and restoring their sight.

Mahindra Group subsidiary, Mahindra Aerospace has been awarded a large aero-components production contract by Airbus Group company, Premium AEROTEC of Germany. The multi-year contract envisages the manufacture and supply by Mahindra of a variety of metallic components that will be fitted into several Airbus aircraft programs as part of assemblies produced by Premium AEROTEC.
Mahindra Aerospace’s deliverables under this contract will be in excess of a million parts per annum. The parts will be produced at the new Mahindra Aerostructures facility located at Narsapura, near Bengaluru, India. Deliveries to Premium AEROTEC’s facilities in Germany are scheduled to commence this year. Announcing the contract award during the 2015 Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, senior representatives of the Airbus and Mahindra groups mentioned that this contract is aligned with the Indian Government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and validates the two Groups’ commitment to accelerate India’s participation in the global aerospace industry while simultaneously creating high-growth opportunities within India’s burgeoning aerospace and defense eco-system.

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) today conducted the first flight of the first flight-test airplane for the MRJ (Mitsubishi Regional Jet), their next-generation regional jet. The first flight was viewed around the world on the MRJ website, www.flythemrj.com.
The MRJ took off from Nagoya Airport and confirmed its basic characteristics and functionality in ascent, descent and turning in airspace off the Pacific coast during its 1.5-hour first flight.
“The MRJ successfully took to the sky today thanks to ongoing cooperation and support from all members involved,” said Hiromichi Morimoto, President, Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation. “ We will make our utmost efforts towards type certificate acquisition, committing all our resources to develop and produce the finest regional jet aircraft to enter commercial service in 2017.”
