St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® will celebrate its 14th annual FedEx/St. Jude Angels and Stars Gala, by welcoming back model and television personality, as well as co-founder, Daisy Fuentes, for an evening of fine dining and Latin music at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, at the Intercontinental Hotel in downtown Miami. The annual event raises funds to help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Cuban-born American journalist and one of Time magazine’s “25 Most Influential Hispanics in America,” Cristina Saralegui, will be recognized for her commitment to giving back and educating the Hispanic community. “Being recognized by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a true honor. Lending my voice to matters that touch my heart is what’s it’s all about. These children need our help and they need your help,” said Saralegui.

History was made today in Mississippi, as two Magnolia State resorts, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi and Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, held simultaneous events to usher in the era of legal sports wagering.
The resorts, part of the MGM Resorts International portfolio (NYSE: MGM), both accepted their first sports wagers at 12:00 p.m. CT and now share in the distinction of taking the first sports wagers in Mississippi under newly created state regulations permitting licensed casino operators to establish legal sports books.

McDonald’s USA today announced its 2013 Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour raised more than $83,000—the most the tour has ever garnered—in support of local Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Chapters. With its seventh year wrapped, Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour, a free national concert series featuring a lineup of gospel greats, is designed to bring service, encouragement and entertainment to communities and emphasize the importance of giving back. This year’s nine-city tour, hosted by gospel artist/comedienne Vickie Winans, kicked off May 9 in Washington, D.C., and featured gospel music heavy-hitters Smokie Norful and son Ashton, Lecrae and John P. McDonald’s USA announced today it will televise its annual 365Black Awards ceremony for the first time on national cable television network Black Entertainment Television® (BET®). Hosted by award-winning actress Taraji P. Henson, the program will air at 11 p.m. Eastern/10 p.m. Central Sunday, August 25. McDonald’s 365Black Awards will feature an all-star lineup of celebrity performers and presenters. Comedian Jonathan Slocumb will open the broadcast that will feature show-stopping performances by recording artists Erica Campbell, Estelle, Angie Stone, Jordin Sparks and Yolanda Adams. Actors Jay Ellis and Omari Hardwick, singer/actress Brandy and singer/songwriter LeToya Luckett, will be among celebrities who will present the awards to this year’s honorees.

The highly anticipated Lucky Dragon Hotel & Casino, the first in Las Vegas to offer an authentic Asian gaming, dining and lifestyle experience, is now open to the public. The property commemorated the milestone with a Grand Opening Celebration held on Saturday, Dec. 3.
The celebration began at 2:30 p.m. PT as the booming sound of taiko drummers called Lucky Dragon guests out to the porte-cochere where the festivities took place. After a half-hour demonstration, the executive team from Lucky Dragon joined the celebration for the traditional dragon and lion eye-opening ceremony and dragon and lion dances. President and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Fonfa, Managing Principal James Weidner, Chief Operating Officer Dave Jacoby, General Manager Matt Harkness, Vice President of Marketing Jordan Seager and Executive Chef Phuoc Luu were all present to make traditional red envelope offerings to the Lions, symbolizing good fortune to come. After an official ribbon cutting, an explosive Chinese firecracker display followed and wowed the packed crowd of onlookers.
