Where there is light there is life. Natural light is fundamental to the quality of our lives and living environment. More than any other element, light, with its many moods and variations, can make a house a home. Light enters our homes primarily through windows and doors. But light from above, through venting skylights, continues to gain favor when architects, designers, builders, remodelers, and homeowners consider effective and efficient sources of natural light and passive ventilation. Elephant seals equipped with antennas on their heads to map the oceans; satellites being used to target mosquitoes; an SMS system preventing the sale of counterfeit medicines in Ghana; smartphones that can predict you’re going to get depressed; credit cards that know two years before you do that you’re headed toward divorce; pills that transmit information directly from your body to your physician. These and other stories are being told through “The Human Face of Big Data,” the latest groundbreaking, globally crowdsourced initiative from Rick Smolan, the creator of the “Day in the Life” series. The project, made possible through primary sponsorship from EMC® (NYSE:EMC), is based on the premise that the real-time visualization of data collected by satellites, and by billions of sensors, RFID tags, and GPS-enabled cameras and smartphones around the world, is enabling humanity to sense, measure, understand and affect aspects of our existence in ways our ancestors could never have imagined in their wildest dreams. Just 70 years ago the fate of the world hung by a thread. America was fighting a two-front war against Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. Titanic battles, on a scale never seen before or since, blazed across two vast oceans and three huge continents. Our fear was great. Our anxiety real. Our victory was far from certain. If we won, we would preserve our freedom. Now the story of that struggle unfolds inside the new Campaigns of Courage: European and Pacific Theaters pavilion opening December 13, 2014 at The National WWII Museum in New Orleans. Assembled for the first time in one space is the epic story of America’s citizen soldiers on the battlefields. Visitors will discover how the war that changed the world was fought and won through the words and deeds of the participants themselves – those called the Greatest Generation. If you wish to do some more Angel Eyes gazing, you can find her here at https://www.youtube.com/user/ivanavanderveen She's got an angel voice to match her eyes as well. LYRICS: Whenever you walk by, I realize, my angel eyes, as Heaven owns the sky, well so do I, my angel eyes. You fill my heart with love from Heaven to above and everywhere there's love. Like oceans to a dove cuz where there's love I'll always love my pretty little angel eyes. Whenever time goes by, I realize, my angel eyes, that Heaven don't know why, well nor do I, my angel eyes. You fill my heart with love from Heaven to above and everywhere there's love. Like oceans to a dove cuz where there's love I'll always love my pretty little angel eyes. Repeat 1st verse:
