This Veterans Day Americans around the world will honor their fellow citizens who have served their country. Some of the best ways to honor our fallen is by learning about the men and women who gave their lives in these conflicts. More than 200,000 Americans are buried or memorialized overseas. The charm of Paris, the European capital of culture and fashion, is well established. Its splendid monuments bear witness to the history of France and the expertise of its greatest architects. Its beautiful streets lined with high-end shops and art galleries continue to make Paris one of the most popular destinations in the world. Some Paris neighbourhoods, such as the famous ‘Golden Triangle ’are very popular with foreign visitors. However, many French and international personalities from business, politics or showbiz choose lesser-known districts, where discretion and luxury go hand-in-hand. Neuilly-sur-Seine is the perfect example, located just ten minutes from the most beautiful avenue in the world : the Champs Elysees. On May 8, 1945 the world celebrated the end of World War II in Europe, but for some young American children it represented the beginning of a lifetime without their fathers. It’s estimated that more than 180,000 American children were left fatherless after the war. “War always leaves behind dead soldiers, grieving widows, grieving parents and children, who have suffered a loss over which they have no control,” said Geraldine Conway Morenski, whose father is buried in Netherlands American Cemetery.
