The Nutrition Facts Label is a simple tool available on food and beverage packages. It lets kids know exactly what they’re eating and helps them choose and compare snacks and other foods. The earlier they start using the Nutrition Facts Label, the sooner they’ll be making choices that keep them feeling great and promote long-term good health!

A recent survey conducted by DSM Nutritional Products found that 83 percent of adults in the U.S. believe worsening eye health is inevitable with age. What many people don’t realize is that there’s a connection between healthy eyes and proper nutrition, and it goes beyond eating carrots.
According to Dr. Kimberly Reed, optometrist and Ocular Nutrition Society board member, “Incorporating certain nutrients into the diet can support a lifetime of healthy vision and help protect against serious conditions, including cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Finding time to eat well doesn’t mean you have to resort to eating out or going through the drive through during this busy fall season. New data analysis, supported in part by by Nestlé USA, indicates that people who reported dining on frozen meals ate fewer calories per day and consumed less saturated fat than those who reported eating fast food meals, also known as quick service restaurant (QSR) meals.1 The findings also showed that those who reported eating frozen meals consumed more essential nutrients than those who reported opting for fast food meals.
The findings are based on a new analysis of data from the 2003-2010 What We Eat In America (WWEIA) National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), a program of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Rather than making New Year’s resolutions to go on the latest diet, Post Great Grains is asking Americans to adopt a balanced way of eating with a focus on healthy foods in conjunction with the launch of new granola and snack mix products. According to a recent national survey, women have been on an average of nine diets in their lifetimes, yet 78 percent of women believe fad diets are not an effective way to maintain a healthy weight.1 Great Grains, the brand known for less-processed, wholesome nutrition, is asking women to ditch fad dieting for good in 2015, and pledge to go “Fad-Free” as a New Year’s resolution.

Innovating within the restaurant space, Zoës Kitchen is the first restaurant group to introduce the lupini bean to the United States, adding this protein-packed, mild-flavored legume to their menu across 170 restaurants in 17 states. Farro will also be incorporated in the menu, an ancient, savory, fiber-rich grain that is commonly used in place of pasta and rice in the Mediterranean. Calabrian peppers, from Calabria, Italy, will add a slightly sweet and mildly spicy flavor to several dishes.
