In a ground-breaking collaboration, Volvo Cars, protective gravity sports gear manufacturer POC and Ericsson will present an innovative safety technology connecting drivers and cyclists for the first time ever at International CES in Las Vegas (6-9 January 2015).
The technology consists of a connected car and helmet prototype that will establish 2-way communication offering proximity alerts to Volvo car drivers and cyclists and thereby avoid accidents. No car manufacturer has previously put a stake in the ground to help address the problem by using Connected Safety technology – until now.

Texas Instruments (TI) (NASDAQ: TXN) today introduced the first all-in-one USB Type-C and USB Power Delivery (PD) controller, which integrates a port power switch and port data multiplexer. The TPS65982 USB PD controller is the only integrated circuit (IC) available that provides the full power path, operating as a Single- or Dual-Role Port and enabling a variety of host and device power implementations.
For applications requiring higher data rates, the TPS65982 can be combined with the 5.4-Gbps HD3SS460, the industry’s first USB Type-C cross-point switch. This solution enables USB connectors on either end of the cable to be flipped up or down, delivers power up to 100 W, and supports Alternate Modes to distribute video over DisplayPort from the host to the end device.

KitchenAid is unveiling a new, three-door free standing refrigerator that is the largest capacity refrigerator in its class*. Available in three models, the 72’’ Counter-Depth French Door Bottom Mount refrigerator features a slide-away split shelf that allows three quarters of the shelf to retract to accommodate taller items, up to 16.75 inches. Starting this May, homeowners in Stockholm can access pay-per-use power tools for the garden, eliminating the need to maintain and store hedge trimmers, chainsaws and other tools that are used less frequently. The project is a pilot, and part of Husqvarna’s commitment to explore innovative and sustainable solutions for taking care of gardens and green spaces.
The Husqvarna Battery Box, is a "smart", 8x3 meter, unattended container with 30 electronic lockers that store battery powered garden care products. Via an iPhone app, homeowners can reserve tools, get instructions, pay, and open the locker to pick up their pre-booked power tool. The "box" will be placed at Bromma Blocks, a shopping center 15 min west of Stockholm city. Renting a garden care product will cost 350 SEK a day (approx 35 Euros or 38 USD).
