The Honda Accord, Volvo XC60 and the Lincoln Navigator were crowned as the winners of the 2018 North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) awards today at the North American International Auto Show.
The awards are among the most prestigious in the industry because they are chosen by a panel of more than 60 jurors from print, online and broadcast media across the United States and Canada. Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of measurement solutions, today introduced the 6 Series MSO mixed signal oscilloscope. The new oscilloscope extends the performance threshold of midrange oscilloscopes to 8 GHz and delivers a 25 GS/s sample rate simultaneously on all 4 channels – an industry first for this class of oscilloscope – to accommodate the needs of designers working on faster, more complex embedded systems designs. With 25 GS/s sample rate on all channels, designers can accurately now view up to four high-speed signals at one time. For example, a DDR3 clock and three DDR3 data channels can be viewed and analyzed simultaneously, decreasing the time it takes to fully characterize a design with an instrument that shares sampling systems between channels.
The new 6 Series MSO also boosts measurement confidence with its low-noise inputs especially at the highest sensitivity settings where it matters most. For example, modern embedded designs require clean, precisely-controlled DC power supplies to feed ASIC and FPGA devices. For such applications, the 6 Series MSO enables designers to measure DC power rails with more resolution and accuracy, reducing the time it takes to understand high frequency influencers on power rails in a design.

History was made today in Mississippi, as two Magnolia State resorts, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi and Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica, held simultaneous events to usher in the era of legal sports wagering.
The resorts, part of the MGM Resorts International portfolio (NYSE: MGM), both accepted their first sports wagers at 12:00 p.m. CT and now share in the distinction of taking the first sports wagers in Mississippi under newly created state regulations permitting licensed casino operators to establish legal sports books.
“MGM Resorts is proud to once again assume the leadership position in the hospitality industry,” said Jim Murren, chairman and chief executive officer of MGM Resorts International. “Sports wagering is a rapidly growing, exciting new entertainment opportunity for our company. As part of a yearlong 75th anniversary celebration, Crowe CEO Jim Powers challenged personnel to volunteer 75,000 hours in their communities, more than double the number of volunteer hours from the previous year.
“Not only did our people meet the 75,000-hour challenge, they crushed it,” said Powers. “By the end of the challenge, we volunteered 82,000 hours, the equivalent of providing 39 full-time people at the nonprofits we served.” Two-thirds of personnel volunteered during the year, well above the industry norm of 31 percent. Using data from Independent Sector, the volunteer hours translate to an economic impact of more than $2 million for the nonprofits.
