Fifteen-year-old Chengo Chewe from Lusaka, Zambia, has turned his life around through the Children International Youth Program. Raised in an extremely volatile community, he lost his father at a young age; few expected him to escape this terrible cycle of poverty and violence. Yet, in 2009, 12-year-old Chengo participated in the United Nations International Youth Day in New York City. Today, Chengo is in high school and plans to study political science in college. His biggest dream? Returning to the United Nations as a diplomat.
Chengo credits Children International for the positive track his life has taken. “I would like to say thank you to Children International for the opportunities they have given me, the opportunities that have opened in my life.”

According to entrants to our latest competition, Machu Picchu in Peru has been voted the most desirable place to escape to. Hostelworld, the leading budget travel website, is offering one lucky winner and a friend the opportunity to jet off round the world on an incredible trip, all expenses paid. All you have to do to enter the competition is pick your top three choices from 30 incredible adventures, and you could be in with a chance to win all three.
As part of the competition, valid until the 30th of June, Hostelworld produced a video of an offline stunt. We brought the spirit of travel to shoppers in London’s Westfield Shopping Centre by setting up a series of scenarios, using a mixture of augmented reality and live actors. After years of analyzing attempted abductions, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® has identified the tricks used by abductors, and the most successful escape strategies for children. NCMEC and Honeywell (NYSE:HON) are working together to deliver this insight nationwide through KidSmartz™, the premier abduction prevention program that equips teachers and parents with tools to help protect children.
A key component of the program is the KidSmartz “Safety Dance” Video Contest. From January through March, elementary schools were asked to submit videos of their students dancing to the new KidSmartz “Safety Dance,” a reimagining of a popular 1980’s song with new lyrics designed to give kids the knowledge and confidence to avoid abduction.
