This Earth Day, sustainability pioneer Fetzer Vineyards announces completion of its revolutionary BIDA® wastewater treatment system, which relies on billions of worms to clean up the winery’s process water. The California vintner’s worms — which work in tandem with microbes to digest contaminants in greywater — are at the heart of a natural system from BioFiltro that uses 85% less energy to clean winery water, regenerating up to 17 million gallons annually for re-use in vineyards and landscaping. The new system is one of a number of Earth-friendly innovations Fetzer Vineyards has recently introduced in an effort to preserve vital resources and find ever-more-efficient ways to put planet conservation on an even playing field with premium winemaking.

Currently sitting proudly at the Number One spot in the Hype Machine Twitter Music Chart, “Living The Dream” is the forthcoming single from West London Alt Rockers Calling All Astronauts, the fifth and final single from their second album Anti-Social Network. Released via all major download sites on August 25th, Living The Dream is a dark anthem with a massively uplifting chorus. It talks about how the grass isn’t always greener on the other side and that if people are happy with their life, they should learn to be content rather than striving to be something that aren’t. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) recently released its list of the World’s Top 15 Model Cities for Best Practices in Tourism. Hangzhou, China was included in the list for its innovative efforts in the protection and development of as well as continuous investment in the city’s historical and cultural resources.
In December 2016, UNWTO created an award recognizing the 15 cities worldwide considered by the organization as examples to emulate when it come to the adoption of best practices in tourism, among its 193 member countries. UNWTO plans to expand the best practices applied by the winners in other global destination cities. UNWTO selected 15 winners based on the results of a survey and a performance evaluation program conducted by a panel of judges at a special evaluation meeting held in September 2017.
