The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) today released an expanded, data-rich version of its popular Hot Wheels report – its list of the 10 most stolen vehicles in the United States. The report examines vehicle theft data submitted by law enforcement to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and determines the vehicle make, model and model year most reported stolen in 2012.
A first-edition feature is also contained in today’s report: a look at the top 25 2012 vehicle makes and models that were reported stolen in calendar year 2012.

A new test program by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rates the performance of front crash prevention systems to help consumers decide which features to consider and encourage automakers to speed adoption of the technology. The rating system is based on research by the Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) indicating that forward collision warning and automatic braking systems are helping drivers avoid front-to-rear crashes.
A large metal sculpture in honor of automotive pioneer Louis Chevrolet, co-founder of the Chevrolet brand, was unveiled and inaugurated in the Swiss city of La Chaux-de-Fonds, today.
The abstract work was commissioned on the occasion of the car brand’s 100 year jubilee in November 2011. Today, it was formally handed over to Louis Chevrolet’s native city by Dr. Thomas Sedran, President and Managing Director of Chevrolet Europe.

The 2014 model-year brand and category winners of the annual Best Resale Value Awards, recognizing vehicles for their projected retained value through the initial five-year ownership period, were announced today by Kelley Blue Book, www.kbb.com, the leading provider of new and used car information. Both Toyota and Lexus earned top honors for best brand and best luxury brand, and each of those top brands had six segment winners from a total of 22 different segments. The much anticipated Porsche Macan compact SUV, the fifth model line for Porsche, was ceremoniously unveiled to a massive international audience during a press conference at the L.A. Convention Center in Petree Hall today. The Macan was the brightest but not the only highlight that Porsche brought to Los Angeles.
