On June 5, CVS/pharmacy kicked-off its 10th annual in-store fundraising campaign -- “Researching a Cure” -- to support the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Funds raised through the campaign benefit the ALS Therapy Alliance (ATA), a leading organization dedicated to advancing ALS research. Through the Researching a Cure campaign, CVS/pharmacy has raised more than $23 million in its stores and online at www.cvs.com, to fund new clinical research with the aim of discovering a treatment or cure for ALS. CVS/pharmacy and MinuteClinic announced their “You vs. Flu” campaign today. Flu vaccinations are now available at all CVS/pharmacy and MinuteClinic locations nationwide to help consumers win against the flu. CVS/pharmacy has more than 7,200 locations and MinuteClinic has nearly 600 locations inside select CVS/pharmacy stores.
Flu shots are being provided by CVS pharmacists and MinuteClinic nurse practitioners and physician assistants every day, including evenings and weekends, with no appointment necessary. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone ages six months and older get a flu shot as soon as vaccine is available, including those who were vaccinated last flu season.

New research released today to mark European Week Against Pain reveals that, in more than half of cases, peoples’ levels of pain across Europe are not being adequately assessed.
More than half (52%) of European primary care physicians use no form of assessment tool to measure peoples’ levels of pain despite chronic pain affecting 1 in 52 adults across Europe. A study in Finland found that pain is also the reason for 40% of patient visits to a primary care physician each year, with approximately 20% of these patients having experienced their pain for more than 6 months.
