Bees are responsible for one in every three bites of food we eat, but their populations are in decline, threatening the food supply as we know it today. According to a recent survey conducted by Cascadian Farm, more than 60 percent of Americans are unfamiliar with colony loss, the phenomenon characterized by honey bees abandoning their hives, never to return. As the number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease soars, so does the number of family caregivers. Over 15 million people are taking care of loved ones with dementia in the home, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. Sixty percent say the emotional stress is high and more than a third report depression symptoms. To help, Brookdale is offering a free webinar for family caregivers during November, National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. The company, America’s largest provider of dementia care, is also offering a web-based Alzheimer’s Resource Center and other expert information.

Only twenty nine percent of Hispanics who rent their homes report having renters insurance, according to a new survey by State Farm. In fact, among respondents without renters insurance more than one third (34%) said they had never heard of renters insurance. Further, most overestimated the cost of coverage and underestimated the value of their property. Not having renters insurance could leave Hispanic families vulnerable to a financial catastrophe especially during the holiday season.

Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. (NASDAQ: ISLE) today announced the winners of its first charitable social media contest awarding a share of $60,000 to six local nonprofit organizations.

ITC Transmission, a wholly-owned subsidiary of ITC Holdings Corp., the nation’s largest independent electricity transmission company, today announced its Thumb Loop high-voltage transmission project is complete with the energization of the third and final phase of the project.
