Three-time U.S. Olympian Deena Kastor, 41, raced to a first place finish at the 11th Annual More Magazine/Fitness Magazine Women’s Half-Marathon in New York City’s Central Park on Sunday, April 13, 2014. Kastor shattered the previous course record time of 1:13:25.051 set in 2013, running a blazing 1:11:38, setting setting not only a new event record, but also a new U.S. Masters record. Local runners Tsehay Geisto of New York, NY, took second place in 1:15:07, while Aregash Gubae placed third in 1:18:35.

The biggest annual event in the Fashion Retail Academy’s Calendar, the FRA Awards Ceremony took place yesterday and was attended by Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Education. Cast members from The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil, Southwest Airlines and McCarran International Airport joined together today to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles’ historic Las Vegas arrival in 1964. Chuck Berry and Peter Sellars were both honoured today as the Laureates of the 2014 Polar Music Prize, the world’s most prestigious music accolade. The European Head and Neck Society (EHNS) today announces European-wide ‘Early Diagnosis Days’ taking place on Wednesday 24 September as part of this year’s Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week (22–26 September). This follows the success of the 2013 campaign, where nearly 100 ‘Early Diagnosis Days’ took place. More than 5,000 patients were seen by a healthcare provider in 1 day, resulting in a referral rate of approximately 5% and multiple diagnoses of the disease.

Today at the 10th Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) in New York City, the Ad Council in partnership with Year Up, the Employment Pathways Project, ConPRmetidos, MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, New Options Project, and Opportunity Nation launched the national “Grads of Life” campaign to help businesses fill more than 4 million vacant positions within the United States with qualified workers. The last year saw many achievements for Chengdu’s meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) industry. According to data from the Chengdu Municipal Statistics Bureau, Chengdu hosted 530 major exhibitions, conferences and forums in 2014, of which 214 were exhibitions, 45 more than a year earlier or a year-over-year (YOY) growth rate of 26.6 percent, and 113 were international conferences and forums, 8 more than a year earlier, or a YOY growth rate of 7.6 percent. The events took up 3.25 million square meters of space in the aggregate, a YOY growth rate of 8.0 percent, of which 49 were international in nature, occupying 1.74 million square meters, a YOY growth rate of 16.0 percent. Direct revenue derived from the industry for 2014 totaled 6.95 billion yuan, up 14.9 percent year-on-year while overall revenue (direct plus indirect) revenue reached 58.4 billion yuan, up 14.5 percent year-on-year.

On 6th May 2015, a delightfully different wedding took place. Two people who’d fallen in love after meeting on a Turkish Airlines flight returned, exactly one year later, to take their romance to another level.
When a beautiful Serbian actress, Vjera Mujović and Stefan Preis, an esteemed doctor from Germany boarded the same Turkish Airlines flight in May 2014, little did they know they’d be returning to the same spot for their wedding.
Having been seated next to each other on the TK 342 flight from Istanbul to Ulan Bator in Mongolia, the couple began chatting. It was kismet. They discovered shared values, thoughts and opinions, despite not only their different backgrounds but also their separate reasons for taking this trip. Before long, they were struck by Cupid’s arrow, and a year later, on 6th May 2015, they became husband and wife aboard the Turkish Airlines Belgrade-Istanbul flight on the same seats 5B and 5C, to be exact.
