Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Comics, and action sports event producer, ASA Entertainment, announced the dates for the 2010 Supergirl Jam event series today. For the fourth consecutive year, these unique events will feature more than 100 of the world’s top female action sports athletes competing in surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and inline skating. The Supergirl Jam is the industry’s only large-scale, all-girls action sports competition and is designed to celebrate female strength, independence and empowerment. In 2010, the Supergirl Jam series will kick-off with three events, each highlighting the sport’s most talented female pros as well as up-and-coming amateurs.

Snowboard cross champion Evan Strong (@strong_evan) made history after an inspiring performance in Sochi this week, taking home gold and becoming the first elite para-athlete to appear on the iconic Wheaties box. With the U.S. Open Snowboarding finals this weekend, Olympic snowboarding champion Hannah Teter teams up with other professional athletes to fight child poverty through Children International, a U.S.-based humanitarian organization.
The two-time medalist was joined by Burton Team Snowboarder Gabi Viteri and Nike 6.0 surfer Monyca Byrne-Wickey recently to visit Children International’s agency in Guadalajara, Mexico, to learn more about the needs of impoverished children there and how Children International’s sponsorship program meets the needs of those children.
