Takeda today announced the launch of a new expert Report on COPD, introduced at a Takeda organised press conference on the occasion of the 2012 European Respiratory Society (ERS) Annual Congress taking place from 1- 5 September in Vienna, Austria.
The Report, entitled ‘The Shifting Paradigm in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Management,’ was initiated and developed by Takeda Pharmaceuticals International GmbH and is a compilation of opinion articles from a panel of key international respiratory experts, the European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients’ Association (EFA) and COPD patients, reflecting updated guidance and research. A study conducted by researchers from the University of L’Aquila in Italy and Mars, Incorporated provides compelling new evidence that the regular consumption of dietary cocoa flavanols may improve cognitive function in elderly subjects with early memory decline. Just published online in the journal Hypertension, this current study significantly advances understanding of the benefits of flavanols by specifically exploring the impact of regular cocoa flavanol consumption on cognitive function in a population with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). Previous research has suggested that the benefits of cocoa flavanols could extend to the brain. However, these studies were either only short-term or did not demonstrate a consistent cognitive benefit. This unique study addresses this gap and provides important insights into the possibility of slowing or even reversing cognitive declines associated with aging through consumption of these natural compounds.

Saxo Bank, the online trading and investment specialist, today releases their Q3 outlook that views Europe as insolvent, in a phase of denial of the actual problems and without a credible path forward. The Bank’s analysts also predict that growth in China will decrease to 6.5 percent, marking the next quarter as the low point for China and for world growth in general.
For the current crisis, Saxo Bank operates with a three-phase model that includes; Denial (which prompts policy-makers and central bankers to rely on quantitative easing and financial stimulus); Protest (where the public votes new governments which still fail to address the real problems) and; Mandate for Change (which forces policy-makers to take real action).
