Six Flags New England today launched the first hybrid coaster to hit the East Coast – the Wicked Cyclone. The Coaster Capital of New England is proud to bring the latest in ride technology and innovation to Massachusetts. The Wicked Cyclone offers the ultimate in thrills and adrenaline by combining the extreme characteristics of both steel and wood. Meteorology students from Western Connecticut State University and celebrity storm chaser Reed Timmer from Discovery Channel’s “Storm Chasers” are among the inaugural riders.

To honor the troops who bravely serve our country, Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres and Mercury Insurance partnered for the second year in a row yesterday to host a “packing party” to assemble care packages for Marines and Sailors from I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton California. More than 50 Mercury employees and agents, Padres players and community representatives stuffed 1,000 backpacks in right field at Petco Park following the April 29 Padres-Astros game.

As the country celebrates the 45th anniversary of Earth Day, Dallas-based nonprofit Earth Day Texas gears up for its fifth annual event. Founded in 2011, the organization expects more than 75,000 attendees during the three-day event.
Earth Day Texas takes place April 24, 25 and 26 at historic Fair Park in Dallas.

Natalie Morales, TODAY show News Anchor and Third-Hour Co-Host, and Erica Hill, Weekend TODAY Co-Host, hosted the 12th Annual MORE/FITNESS/SHAPE Women’s Half-Marathon in New York’s Central Park on Sunday, April 19, 2015. Morales and Hill completed the race in an impressive 1:38:59 and 2:06:52 respectively. Following years of trying to expand their family, Lisa and James Park of Raleigh, NC were named the winning family in Ferring Pharmaceuticals’ 2014 Heart to Heart Video Contest. This marks the tenth year Ferring has provided educational grants through patient contests, giving parents who have struggled with infertility the chance to win thousands of dollars for their child’s education by sharing their story.
Lisa and James’ rollercoaster journey to parenthood included multiple rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF), intrauterine insemination (IUI) and a frozen embryo transfer. Mazda announced the addition of Liam Dwyer as a full-time racer in the 2015 Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge. Dwyer stunned the racing world in 2014 when he teamed up with Tom Long to co-drive their Freedom Autosport Mazda MX-5 to the win in the Lime Rock Park Continental Tire ST race on Memorial Day weekend. The win was a made-for-Hollywood storyline as Dwyer was competing in only his second professional race, and he was doing it with an artificial leg, having been injured while serving as a U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant in Afghanistan just three years previously.
For 2015, Dwyer will be paired up with Andrew Carbonell for the entire ten-race season beginning January 23rd at Daytona International Speedway. Carbonell scored two wins with Freedom Autosport and Mazda in 2014.
