Eagle Rare Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has named Angie Goodwin of Calhoun, Ky., as the winner of the Grand Prize 2014 Rare Life Award. Eagle Rare will donate $40,000 to Goodwin’s charity, Thumbs Up for Lane Goodwin Childhood Cancer Foundation, and host an awards ceremony in Henderson on March 7. Angie and her late son Lane started the foundation to support childhood cancer research through funding and advocacy and to assist families battling childhood cancer by providing education, financial assistance and a volunteer network.

Ballet Director and inspiration for film Mao's Last Dancer Li Cunxin is one of eight finalists for the prestigious Australian of the Year Award 2014
Born into extreme poverty in rural China, Li became one of China's foremost ballet dancers. He became Principal Artist with the Australian Ballet in 1995, and his autobiography, Mao's Last Dancer, was translated onto the screen in 2009. Today, Li inspires many Australians with his personal story of hardship, perseverance and success.

The Amgen Foundation today announced $2.5 million in new grants for the Amgen Biotech Experience, an innovative science education program, bringing the total committed to nearly $8 million since the program’s inception in 1990. The Amgen Biotech Experience provides a real-world biotech lab experience to middle and high schools in Amgen’s U.S. and United Kingdom (U.K.) communities and will engage more than 50,000 students this year. Education Development Center, Inc. SAIC, Inc. (NYSE: SAI) today held an Investor Day event in New York City in which the senior leadership team of the planned spin-off company, Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), presented its business plans and financial objectives.
SAIC, Inc. previously announced plans to create two independent, publicly traded companies. Upon completion of the planned spin-off transaction, the technical, engineering and enterprise IT services business will retain the name SAIC and trade under (NYSE: SAIC), while the government and commercial solutions company will be named Leidos and trade under (NYSE: LDOS).
