Today on Rare Disease Day, My Life, Our Future, a national program founded by leaders in the bleeding disorder community, including Bloodworks Northwest, the American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network, the National Hemophilia Foundation and Bioverativ Inc., opened the largest research repository of its kind in the world to scientists. The My Life, Our Future Research Repository is a collection of genetic data and blood samples that are linked to phenotypic data from more than 5,000 people in the U.S. with hemophilia, a rare disorder that impairs the ability of one’s blood to clot. The My Life, Our Future Research Repository will allow researchers to advance the scientific understanding of the disorder, including genetic differences that affect bleeding severity and reaction to certain treatments.

Automakers from around the globe are gearing up for the grand opening of the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, which opens to the public on 10am. Saturday, Feb. 11, at McCormick Place.
Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle are expected to be on hand Saturday, Feb. 11 for the ribbon cutting ceremony, which will officially open the 2017 Chicago Auto Show. With more than one million sq. ft. of exhibit space, the show is the largest in North America and has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent.

Leading automaker GAC Motor has released its best-selling GS4 in Bahrain at the grand new car launching ceremony from December 9 to 10 at Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre. With no retirement plans in sight, Dorothy Zehnder, co-founder of the family-owned Bavarian Inn Restaurant will celebrate her 95th birthday on Thursday, December 1 doing what she enjoys the most – working in the kitchen of one of the nation’s largest and most successful independent restaurants.
“I like working,” she says. “I like to cook, and I like people. What else is there that I would like better?”
The petite and lively matriarch doesn’t look much like a modern CEO, but don’t be fooled. Over the years, Dorothy has been involved with all the family’s business operations, all located in Frankenmuth – Michigan’s Little Bavaria.
