Klişe bir laf ama adamlar uzaya araç gönderirken, İslam dünyasında hâlâ dünya düz mü değil mi diye tartışılması gerçekten trajik. Bu tartışma birçok müslümana bile saçma gelecektir eminim. Ancak konu din olunca ve her şeyin ölçütü kutsal kitaplar olarak görüldüğünde, gerçeklerin orada yazanlara uydurulması bilindik bir durum haline gelmekte. İşte bu sebeple, 1975 yılında Suudi Arabistan'ın en önemli din otoritesi kabul edilen Şeyh Abdul Aziz Bin Baz tarafından Dünya'nın düz olduğu fetvası verilmiş ve buna inanmayanların dinsiz kabul edilerek, cezelandırılması gerektiği bildirilmiştir. Bugün, ülkemizde, hadisleri baz alarak Adem'in dinozorlarla aynı dönemde yaşadığını ve 30 m. uzunlukta olduğunu söyleyen biyoloji profesörlerimiz varken, dünyanın düz olduğunu söyleyen uzmanlar hiçbir müslümanı da şaşırtmamalı. ("Kuran'da Dünya'nın düz olarak geçtiğini söyleyenlere itirazınız var da, evrim yalandır diyenlere niye yok?" diye bir soru yönlendirilebilir kendilerine.)
Şüphesiz buna inananlar sadece müslümanlar değil. 1956 yılında Britanya'da, Flat Earth Society (Düz Dünya Cemiyeti) adıyla, Dünya'nın düz olduğunu savunan ve bugün hala aktif olan bir organizasyon bile kuruldu. Bilim karşıtlığı hiçbir zaman popülaritesini yitirmiyor.

Barcelona is hosting the third edition of the Wine & Culinary International Forum today, a biennial international conference dedicated to food and wine pairing promoted by Bodegas Torres. Over 250 professionals, including sommeliers, restaurant owners, distributors and journalists from almost 20 different countries, participated in the event. Celebrated in the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya, it provided a forum in which to reflect and discuss the complementary relationship between wine and food under the heading “Wine and World Cuisines.”
The president of Bodegas Torres, Miguel A. Torres, opened the event, which featured talks, tastings and culinary demonstrations by a total of 20 national and international experts who are highly regarded in their fields. Among them, Josep Roca, sommelier at El Celler de Can Roca; the award winning wine-writer and journalist Sarah Jane Evans MW, an expert in Spanish wines as well as the former Chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine; the prestigious French enologist Pascal Chatonnet, one of the leading researchers into the microbiological factors involved in the interaction between wine and oak; Canadian researcher François Chartier, a pioneer in the aromatic science of molecular food matching since 2004 and author of Taste Buds and Molecules, world’s best innovative food 2010; the renowned French wine critic Michel Bettane; and the endocrinologist Dr. Francisco Tinahones, a researcher at the University of Malaga.

TELEMUNDO has gathered six of the most popular TV personalities in Spanish language television to share hosting duties at the 2016 edition of “Premios Tu Mundo” (Your World Awards) to be broadcast live on Thursday, August 25th, at 8PM/7c from the AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, Florida. The official hosts of this year’s award show include: Rafael Amaya and Fernanda Castillo from the ratings topping Super Series “El Señor de los Cielos,” Carlos Ponce and Maritza Rodriguez from the current romantic comedy “Silvana Sin Lana,” and David Chocarro and Aracely Arambula from the upcoming production “La Doña.” The highly anticipated awards event, which is produced by TELEMUNDO and Adventure Productions, will be preceded by the now traditional blue carpet special “La Alfombra de Premios Tu Mundo” at 7PM/6c. Canon 13 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Santa Lucia Highlands, our answer to the mission bell, launch nationwide in July to on-premise retailers.
“The Santa Lucia Highlands are as unique as the people who settled them,” says Canon 13 winemaker Tom Klassen. “Sitting high on a bench overlooking a fertile valley, the vines grow deep in the alluvial soils that cling to the hillsides. Our fruit is protected by the maritime breezes that bring with them a gentle fog, ensuring the grapes ripen evenly and provide our wines with supple texture and fragrant aromatics found nowhere else.”
Canon 13 is inspired by our geographic birthplace at the Soledad Mission, the 13th mission located along the El Camino Real, the historic 600-mile stretch of road connecting dozens of missions and pueblos beginning in the late 1700s. The steep Santa Lucia Highlands are located along California’s central coast, near the cool waters of Monterey Bay on the flanks of the Santa Lucia Range. The region is graced by warm days, cool nights, rich soil and an evening fog that nurtures the delicate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.
