iGATE CEO Cup has created a thrilling format for a charitable tournament with CEOs representing many of the world's top companies playing for a noble cause.

This first-class championship-style golf tournament will be held March 21 – 22, 2014, at Course No. 2 and Course No. 8 of the legendary Pinehurst Resort & Country Club in North Carolina, USA. Grand Slam champion Gary Player will co-host the iGATE CEO Cup just as he did for the inaugural tournament last year.

Doch bereits in 2014 würden 14 Modelle mit Elektro- oder Hybridantrieben zur Verfügung stehen. Und bei entsprechender Nachfrage könnten mittelfristig bis zu 40 neue Modelle mit alternativen Antrieben ausgerüstet werden. Ein Novum ist auch die Produktion dieser Fahrzeuge auf den ganz normalen Produktionsbändern.

Der Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid als Plug-in steht seit August bei den Händlern, den reinen Stromer e-up! im Kleinwagen-Segment gibt es ab Oktober zum Kampfpreis von 26.900 Euro in den VW-Autohäusern zu sehen. Und Anfang nächsten Jahres folgen der Audi A3 Sportback e-tron als Plug-in Hybrid und der Golf als reines Elektrofahrzeug, von dem es in 2014 zusätzlich ebenfalls eine Plug-in-Variante geben wird. Weitere Modelle werden folgen, um in jedem Segment einen Stromer oder einen Plug-in Hybrid anbieten zu können und das selbst gesteckte Ziel zu erreichen, bis 2018 der weltweit ökologisch führende Autokonzern zu sein. Dabei bleibt man im VW-Konzern realistisch. Trotz des Volks-Elektroautos e-up! werde der Anteil der reinen Stromer vorerst begrenzt sein. Bis 2018 hofft man aber auf einen Absatz von 300.000 Fahrzeugen mit Ladestecker.

The latest small overlap front crash test results from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) reveal a range of performance among many of the best-selling small cars in the U.S. market. Of the 12 models evaluated, half earn a good or acceptable rating and qualify for the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award.
The 2-door and 4-door models of the Honda Civic are the only small cars to earn the top rating of good in the test. IIHS evaluated the Civics earlier this year and released the results in March. The Dodge Dart, Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra and 2014 model Scion tC earn acceptable ratings.
