For the tenth consecutive year, The Capital Grille today launched its highly anticipated wine event, The Generous Pour. This year, guests are invited to taste and toast the legacy of renowned winemaker Dan Duckhorn. With wines hand selected to pair with the restaurant’s signature menu items, including hand-cut steaks, dry aged in-house, the tasting experience offers seven selections of classic California and Washington varietals, all created by Dan Duckhorn and his award-winning winemakers. The best lumberjack athletes in the country return to Milwaukee from July 27 to 29 to thrill fans with amazing athletic performances in the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series Championships. The competitions, presented by STIHL and sponsored by John Deere, Duluth Trading Company, and Harley-Davidson, will feature the U.S. Collegiate, Men’s Professional, and Women’s Professional Championships. For the second straight year, German Fest Milwaukee will host the event. A record 15,000 fans attended the 2017 U.S. Championships and another record crowd is expected this year.
“Having the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® U.S. Championships return to German Fest is huge for us. This summer, homeowners across the United States will beat the heat with the help of Carrier ductless home comfort systems and Habitat for Humanity. Carrier has donated more than 500 systems to Habitat and they will be installed in homes throughout the country to provide cooling when it’s hot and heating when it’s cold. Carrier is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
Carrier has teamed up with pro football legend and longtime Habitat supporter, Warrick Dunn, in Atlanta to celebrate the donation. For 20 years, Dunn’s Home for the Holidays program has provided single mothers working toward their first home purchase with financial assistance. He began the program in honor of his late mother, a Louisiana police officer killed in the line of duty.

On July 28 and 29, Keep Memory Alive hosted the annual Summer Social and Rodeo at Shakespeare Ranch, a weekend of Western-style fun and fundraising including a professional rodeo event and evening with celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse and Motown classic group The Commodores. The philanthropic weekend’s events benefitted Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and honored Rhonda and Don Carano and the Carano family with the Keep Memory Alive Community Leadership Award.
