ProSight Specialty® Insurance today announced the launch of Music Mends℠, a one-of-a-kind enhancement that’s unique in the traditionally-bound insurance industry. Music Mends is specially designed for touring artists, and is in response to the pain and disruption that terrorism invokes in our modern society. Specifically, the coverage is designed to provide support to touring artists who wish to help mend communities following an act of terrorism that interrupts a live performance. The cost of this enhancement is being borne by ProSight, in a demonstration of unprecedented commitment to artists and performers in the wake of a terrorist attack. “The idea of Music Mends came to us after we attended a concert together and learned that some of the performers had been impacted by the terrorist attack in Paris at the Bataclan concert hall,” said ProSight Chief Underwriting Officer Bob Bailey, speaking of himself and Joe Beneducci, ProSight’s founder and CEO. “The raw emotion from the band that night was evident, and we knew we needed to do something to help support artists who want to go back and perform for their fans. That’s when the idea for Music Mends was born.” To view the multimedia release go to: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7870251-prosight-launches-music-mends/

PDI, a leader in infection prevention products and solutions, announced the launch of its new EASY SCREEN™ CLEANING WIPE. This new product addresses the increasing use of touchscreen equipment in healthcare and the need for compatible cleaning products. According to the Epocrates 2014 Mobile Trends Report, the presence of “digital omnivores,” a clinician regularly using digital devices including tablets, smartphones and computers, was 41 percent in 2014 and was predicted to increase to 74 percent in 2015. One of the biggest surges was expected to come from tablet usage, going from 45 percent in 2014 to 80 percent in 2015. Withstanding the apparent increase in touchscreen device usage in healthcare, a June 2015 study in the American Journal of Infection Control stated that proper protocols are lacking to address sensitive surfaces like touchscreen devices. “Healthcare facilities are advancing everyday and it’s vital that we, as infection prevention leaders, are aware of the changes that are happening and able to adapt quickly. We created the EASY SCREEN™ CLEANING WIPE in response to the increasing usage of touchscreens and the need for a compatible product that wouldn’t damage the technology,” said PDI Senior Product Manager, Melanie Waddell. Today, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) issued a report card on President Obama's immigration efforts over the past seven years and made recommendations for how to reform immigration in his last year. “In recent days and weeks he has shown leadership in protecting refugees from Syria,” said AILA President Victor Nieblas Pradis. “But until recently, the president's response was timid and he still plans to resettle only 10,000 Syrian refugees this year. He can save many more lives by setting his target at 100,000 Syrian refugees.” “In our own hemisphere, when Central American individuals and families, including young children, arrived at our southern border seeking refuge from the horrific violence plaguing those countries, the president should have protected them, but instead, he treated them as a border threat. The president should acknowledge that the situation in Central America is a humanitarian crisis and use every tool at his disposal to protect those fleeing. Most important he should stop detaining thousands of families.” “The reforms to the legal immigration system he promised a year ago have moved forward at a glacial pace, earning him an incomplete. He can benefit the economy enormously by implementing plans to encourage research, development and entrepreneurial start-ups.” To view the multimedia release go to: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7683151-aila-national-immigration-report-card/

World trade in perishable foods turns a page as Maersk Container Industry (MCI), an independent business unit in the Maersk Group conglomerate, today announced that it has begun production of the first refrigerated containers and Star Cool refrigeration machines built in South America at its new MCI facility in San Antonio, Chile. The first trial production of these ISO standard 40 feet reefer containers were successfully delivered during the third quarter of 2015 into the Maersk Line and CMA CGM operations. Shortly thereafter, both shipping lines placed new orders. To further leverage this new value proposition, Maersk Line has secured a fixed monthly volume from the MCI facility allowing for increased agility and fast response time to the demand in the region. “In this sweet spot of fruit exporters, we have placed the factory right where the demand is. For the first time ever in South America, reefer containers can go straight “from factory to farm”,” said Stig Hoffmeyer, Chief Executive Officer of MCI. “Offering the Star Cool Integrated reefers locally to shipping lines, farmers, fruit distributors and leasing companies, will have a financial benefit counted in thousands of dollars per reefer, and millions for the industry in total,” he continued. After only 16 weeks of existence, foetuses hear and respond to music as long as it is emitted from their mother’s vagina. Foetuses respond to this stimulus by opening their mouths and pulling their tongues out as far as possible, making vocalisation movements – prior to the acquisition of language. This is the main conclusion of the study conducted by the team of Institut Marquès, which boasts the collaboration of Alberto Prats, Professor of Anatomy and Human Embryology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona. The study, entitled “Foetal facial expression in response to intravaginal music emission”, is published this week in the journal Ultrasound of the British Medical Ultrasound Society (BMUS). According to Dr. Marisa López-Teijón, the Head of Assisted Reproduction at Institut Marquès and the principal researcher and author of the clinical study: “We have discovered that the formula for foetuses to hear like us is to emit music from the mother’s vagina. They barely hear the sound that reaches them through their mother’s abdomen: the soft tissues of the abdomen and the inside of the mother’s body absorb the soundwaves”. Positive strides have been made since 1995 to advance science literacy in the United States, but teachers and parents agree that more hands-on, experiential learning must be adopted in order to improve science education for future generations, according to the results of the 2015 Bayer Facts of Science Education Survey released today. For 20 years, Bayer has issued the survey, which assesses science education in the United States and evaluates its development. Although positive strides have been made, survey results emphasize the critical need to improve science education and literacy for future generations. Teachers, for example, universally agree (99 percent) that more hands-on experiential learning in general would benefit student learning. In response, Bayer is announcing a five-year commitment to provide 1 million hands-on science learning experiences for children by 2020, timed to the 20th anniversary of the Making Science Make Sense® program, Bayer’s company-wide initiative that advances science literacy across the United States.
