Global biotherapeutics leader CSL Behring today announced that results were published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) from the COMPACT study, a pivotal Phase III study evaluating the safety and efficacy of CSL830 (a novel, investigational, self-administered, subcutaneous C1-Esterase Inhibitor [C1-INH] Human replacement therapy) for the prevention of HAE attacks. The study met its primary efficacy endpoint, significantly reducing the time-normalized number of HAE attacks. In addition, the study met its secondary endpoints, including the responder rate (patients who had at least a 50% reduction in their attack rate) and the number of rescue medication uses. If approved by the FDA, CSL830 would be the first and only subcutaneous preventative therapy for HAE. As called for in the President’s Cybersecurity National Action Plan, the White House, the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) and more than 35 companies and NGOs today announced a new internet safety and security campaign, “Lock Down Your Login,” to empower Americans to better protect their online accounts. The goal is to encourage a move beyond usernames and passwords to a widespread adoption of strong authentication for key online accounts. The majority of Americans (72 percent) believe their accounts are secure with just usernames and passwords. Usernames and passwords simply are not enough; hackers and cybercriminals continue to evolve their attack techniques, and users must improve their security to better protect their accounts. The campaign is launching at a time when Americans are more connected than ever: 73 percent go online daily, and one in five are constantly connected. Coupled with increased connectivity are high levels of concern about identity theft, device security and risks such as phishing. In fact, a recent NCSA/Microsoft study found that preventing identity theft is the top online safety topic that both U.S. adults and teens (ages 13-17) would like to learn more about. Additionally, teens reported that unauthorized account access is their top online safety concern. Although Americans consistently express high levels of concern about identity theft, device security and risks such as phishing, many are either not aware or not using widely available, simple technologies to better secure their online accounts. Americans expect the cybersecurity community to help solve the problem. In another study, 78 percent of Americans reported they strongly or somewhat agree that government, industry and other stakeholders should work to find new ways of securing accounts beyond the password. ProSight Specialty® Insurance today announced the launch of Music Mends℠, a one-of-a-kind enhancement that’s unique in the traditionally-bound insurance industry. Music Mends is specially designed for touring artists, and is in response to the pain and disruption that terrorism invokes in our modern society. Specifically, the coverage is designed to provide support to touring artists who wish to help mend communities following an act of terrorism that interrupts a live performance. The cost of this enhancement is being borne by ProSight, in a demonstration of unprecedented commitment to artists and performers in the wake of a terrorist attack. “The idea of Music Mends came to us after we attended a concert together and learned that some of the performers had been impacted by the terrorist attack in Paris at the Bataclan concert hall,” said ProSight Chief Underwriting Officer Bob Bailey, speaking of himself and Joe Beneducci, ProSight’s founder and CEO. “The raw emotion from the band that night was evident, and we knew we needed to do something to help support artists who want to go back and perform for their fans. That’s when the idea for Music Mends was born.” To view the multimedia release go to: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7870251-prosight-launches-music-mends/

Rare examples of classic cars can attract enormous interest from buyers, regularly breaking sales price records. Lauritz Lauritzen is the owner of one such car, Mercedes-Benz, cabriolet type B, model 320 from 1938 is the only one in the world produced at Mannheim Mercedes-Benz. Lauritz is excited about what price the car might fetch when it goes under the hammer in Denmark on June 26. The Mercedes represents the pinnacle of the German marque and only thirty-four cars were ever built. This 1938c car is even more special as it is a top of the range ”Mannheim”-car further equipped with everything Mercedes could think of. In its time, it was probably one of the world's best cars. Today it presents itself accordingly - but only because the enthusiastic owner has put thousands of hours into it. Lauritz Lauritzen found the car in a barn in 1980 as a complete wreck, and the skilled Mercedes mechanic took on the challenge of restoring it to its former glory. Eleven years later the car was running again. To view the multimedia release go to: http://www.multivu.com/players/uk/7861151-mercedes-resurrected-after-bomb-attack/

Losing weight and being healthier are at the top of everyone’s New Year’s resolutions. But, despite the best intentions, work, kids, and social events often push lifestyle changes to the bottom of the list. While many are familiar with type 2 diabetes, fewer are aware of prediabetes, a serious health condition that affects 86 million Americans (more than 1 in 3) and often leads to type 2 diabetes. People with prediabetes have higher than normal blood glucose (sugar) levels, but not high enough yet to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. To raise awareness and help people with prediabetes know where they stand and how to prevent type 2 diabetes, the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the American Medical Association (AMA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have partnered with the Ad Council to launch the first national public service advertising (PSA) campaign about prediabetes. The PSA campaign, featuring first-of-its-kind communications techniques, was developed pro bono by Ogilvy & Mather New York for the Ad Council. Nearly 90 percent of people with prediabetes don’t know they have it and aren’t aware of the long-term risks to their health, including type 2 diabetes, heart attack, and stroke. Current trends suggest that, if not treated, 15 to 30 percent of people with prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within five years. The good news is that prediabetes often can be reversed through weight loss, diet changes and increased physical activity. Diagnosis is key: research shows that once people are aware of their condition, they are much more likely to make the necessary lifestyle changes. New Orleans is one of the country’s most culturally, architecturally, and musically interesting cities. It will serve as the picturesque backdrop for Team Challenge, the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s (CCFA) endurance training and fundraising program, to take over the city on February 28, 2016 for the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon, Half Marathon & 10k. For the first time ever, Team Challenge is recruiting for participants to run through the Big Easy while raising critical funds and awareness of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Collectively known as inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are painful, medically incurable diseases that attack the digestive system. There are more than 1.6 million Americans living with these chronic, debilitating diseases. “Team Challenge provides people with an opportunity to raise critical research dollars while training to do something that, for many people, they never imagined they’d be able to do,” said Craig Comins, vice president of Team Challenge. “It is inspiring to see a group of people come together, some who have these diseases and some who do not, united in the mission of finding a cure for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.” To view the multimedia release go to: http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7512652-ccfa-team-challenge-recruit-nola/

Many women don't realize aging makes heart disease likelier. To combat this problem, teams from Brookdale senior living communities nationwide are fanning out to personally alert women 65 and over to their increased risk and provide resources to fight it. The company hopes to reach 10,000 older women through “10,000 Heart to Hearts,” beginning Feb. 1. “Cardiac disease kills more women than all cancers combined,” said Brookdale chief medical officer Kevin O'Neil, M.D., F.A.C.P. “On average, women develop heart disease 10 years later than men, with their first heart attack occurring at age 70.” To view the Multimedia News Release, go to http://www.multivu.com/players/English/7087732-brookdale-senior-living/
